Yea, I know. It's like UCSF/UCB, Penn State, and Cornell. However, I'm treating it like Penn State, where I'm going to make every effort to get out the undergrad campus because that's where all the cool stuff is (the opposite of Cornell, haha).
 
Do you guys consider Temple a mid or low-tier?
 
Hey guys - sorry to crash the party (I'm mostly a lurker), but I have a question. I'm applying ED to my state school and submitted my secondary on 7/17, but so far only my committee letter shows as received (to the school). I have two individual letters assigned to the school in AMCAS that were received there ages ago, but the school still hasn't received them. I called and they were sort of short w/me and said it takes a while, but I'm a little confused by how they got one right away and not the other two. Any thoughts? Hate to be neurotic, but all my eggs are in this basket, you know?

low defiantly. Its not too desireable a location for many students. Its more of a well if i dont get in anywhere else...ghetto here i come 😛

schools get busy but they do give EDP apps priority, as long as AMCAS has got them, and you assigned them on amcas to the school, there is nothing to worry about and nothing for you to do. Amcas basically makes it available instantly, its just up to the school to do w/e they do to get the letters
 
you know, i'm starting to wonder if the whole SDN mentality made me do my secondaries faster than necessary at a lower quality...

hmm... but i guess its a burden relieved to have most of my secondaries submitted

Sometimes I feel the same way, but then I realize what my personality type is, and then I don't think about it. The timeframe would have worked out the same anyway.

The Hangover was awesome! I've seen it 2.64 times. When I get off of work and have nothing to do for a little while but don't want to go home, I sit in that movie.

I post at my work and at home, so 2 different IP's, im gonna start spamming your mdapps with terrible comments just to show my love for you. and who dared to ask for your hand in marriage in such a callous way on mdapps, sdn is a much better place for that! :whistle:
 
I really should not be up this early on my day off, but I have to move out and then drive back to NOLA by 3:10 🙁. Busy day today, after that have to buy a present and then go out to a big expensive dinner. My wallet=😱 after today.
 
Hey guys,

Im new to this forum.. I see most of you are already finishing up secondaries.. This makes me a little bit worried..I still have not sent in my primary

I got my MCAT score on the 21st of July and Im finishing up my primary application. Hopefully it will be sent out tonight.

I waited so long because i thought I bombed the MCAT and would need to retake but I actually did quite well..

Also Im only applying to 12 schools.. Is this too little.. I saw that some of you area pplying to over 40! That is pretty much impossible for me.. I can barely afford to pay for the 12 that I have chosen.

Anyways, sorry for this long winded post.. here are my stats:

MCAT: 12/12/12 (36Q)
Gpa: 3.83

Any advice about anything i wrote above would be helpful. Thanks 🙂

even though your gpa and mcat are good, 12 schools is somewhat small depending on what your state of residence is. If you are a cali resident 12 is defiantly too small, but if 12 is all you can afford then 12 is all you apply to its as simple as that. If you can try to add more but if not dont worry about something that is out of your control. 15-20 range would be nice 🙂

you should really make this post in the "what are my chances" forum-- this thread is mostly for random socializing/venting about apps.

but since you asked... 🙂

your stats are great, so if you've chosen your 12 schools wisely, you should be fine... except that your app will be late-ish if you still haven't submitted. this is because at this point it might take a month or more for your AMCAS to get verified, so you won't be complete at any schools until that happens. in short... i don't know!

You have great stats. As long as you have solid ECs to go along with it and can hold your own during an interview, you should easily get an acceptance. SDN always takes it to the extreme, so if you've chosen your 12 schools carefully, that should be enough.

For the same financial reason as you, I'm only applying to 7 schools, and I am somewhat confident I will be successful this cycle.

Im a Michigan Resident.. so its only 3 state schools. Im applying to 9 out of state schools
