I guess gmail does change the little number in parentheses without me actually checking it, but I still keep it open constantly and look at it. 😛

my housemate actually used to have some way of limiting it. i don't remember what email client, or how she did it, but she could set it so she was only allowed to check the email once per hour or something. it was nice.

lol exactly...even if i had outlook id still do it non stop .

This September, for the first time in Penn's history, all undergraduates who are eligible for financial aid will receive grants rather than loans in their aid packages. Students from typical families with income less than $40,000 will pay no tuition, fees, room or board. Students from typical families with incomes less than $90,000 will pay no tuition and fees.

oh **** they canceled all government loans, so anyone not getting a grant or enough of a grant will have to go private loans

i think they are following harvards footsteps


but colleges are no longer doing need blind admissions, so they can just accept less financially dependent students
 
man 272 dollars for tickets to creighton 🙁...and i still didnt even get a suit yet...this is gonna be like 800 bucks after suit, tickets, hotel for only 1 interview...i better get accepted, i dont want to fly OOS anymore lol

all of last month they were installing new fire alarms for every apt in our area.......it was the most horrid month ever :scared:

That sounds terrible. I hate fire alarms.
It seems lately, whenever I'm off and staying at my house for the day, there's either painting, exploding water heaters, or installation of something.

:laugh: What are they using, a nail gun or staple gun or something? The tearing sounds from cutting it into the correct dimensions can be loud too I suppose.
 
after one of us gets accepted, we should pull a prank on a med school that they didn't apply to. call them up and "confirm" and interview date
 
ten bucks to whoever convinces my school to sent out my LORs asap. twenty bucks if it's today.

its hard to drive around cali right? like from SF to LA is a pretty long drive
 
I'm attempting to cull my list of schools to save some secondary money. My Pittsburgh flight was $300, suit was like $500 total, and my mom was pretty shocked when I told her how much I've spent so far. :scared:

I haven't submitted the secondaries for UW-Madison, Loyola, Rush, and Minnesota... Wisconsin is not big on OOSers, and I don't have a non-sci LOR for Loyola, so I think those are going to get the boot.

Do you think it'd be safe to do this considering it will bring down my list of potential schools to 9? 😕
 
You should be ok. Make sure to give 100% at your interviews, and i'd think you'd get some love, especially from IA.

but what do I know?...

I would say it depends on what you did in the lab course. Some labs actually mimic research experience, allowing you to design and perform your own experiments. If this is not the case, then I would say it's not research experience. Just my opinion.
 
It was 100% like a research experience. We did all of our own lit review, though the basics of the experiments were given to us we made modifications, performed all of the multi-week experiments (there were three), wrote all three manuscripts, and wrote a grant proposal. Two experiments had not been done before.

so, it seems to me like it was a research experience, and it really helped me for doing my thesis the next year. the only qualms i have about listing it is that it was technically a course.

edit: ok, I went for it. If they don't consider it, then they'll disregard.

Well, I would count it if I were an adcom. Sounds like research experience to me, you just happened to be in a class.

Sounds like research to me. I'd have no problem counting that as research if I were on an adcom

I got good news last Monday.
I just find it strange that absolutely nobody has any news whatsoever right now. I thought Mondays were the days when most of the action happened. Remember last Monday? Like 3 or 4 schools started handing out invites.

driving in cali makes me want to kill myself lol. I ****ing hate traffic i cant stand driving in so cal. SF to LA would be like 6 hours. maybe more i hvant driven it in a long time.

that's another reason i'm excited to get into a school in a smaller city. cmon rochester! :xf:

no traffic would just be beautiful.
