Hi everyone.

It feels good to be away from SDN for awhile. I feel refreshed and ready to take on this process once again.

I had a nightmare the other night that I got 9's in each section, but had a 29 composite score. I don't know how 9 + 9 + 9 = 29, but it did in my nightmare. ha ha.
 
lol. you are gonna get neurotic again man. its a steep learning curve but just try to enjoy the little drama we have in our lives.

i hate the Pats but those dudes are so ruthless when they play thats its entertaining. should be a good season. buffalo should make minor dents on people, miami should be a bit better.

Did anyone get an email from University of Vermont SOM? I didn't apply there but they somehow got my email address and sent me an email saying how good their school is and that I should consider applying.

I think we should compile poll results as to what probability of success this actually confers. I've heard of these emails before, but I've friends who have followed up with them and been rejected. I'm not sure if it's a revenue generator or if they are, in fact, interested.

great idea. I just don't want to waste $31 applying to a school that send this out to everyone.

What basis do these schools have in being interested in anyone? An MCAT score, at most? I mean, sure, people may get in. But if they had applied without getting said invite, they still would have gotten in. But I really think they are just a way to get more applicants to apply. I don't think it's just a money thing though. Some of these people may get in that may not have applied before. Besides the schools want a broad range of choices for the student body. This is a way to get that.

It's not the $31, it's the $85 for the secondary that is what they are gunning for. The way I look at it, is if they are truly trying to recruit you then they should waive their secondary fee for you.

I don't want to sound like a pessimist, but that is good business for the school, but could be bad business for you. I would recommend applying if you could actually see yourself going there, couldn't hurt, but not wasting your time if you aren't remotely interested.

I agree. I just think if they are trying to bolster their applications then they should waive or offer a discounted fee to applicants that they are "recruiting."

my secondary is free b/c I have FAP. but now that I think about it...applying to another won't increase my chances. I'm tired of doing secondaries. I'm just ready for at least an invite. :xf:

I don't agree with that statement, but I think you've got a good point. Don't waste your time. You've applied to plenty of schools, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

sadly no! There was an initial rush of interviews/activity followed by silence. Now I just compulsively check my email hoping to see something from "SOMADMISS"
