Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
ksmi, are we having our own conversation on here?? where is marylennox!? where is jackson attack?? caniac!? i miss my ladies 🙁

i think nash in his prime is a better playmaker than kidd in his prime. kidd is obviously a better overall talent though.

You have to understand, though, that "Nash in his prime" existed in a very unique system that allowed him to be that way. Kidd in the same system could have done just as well, if not better. Just look at Nash's stats in all of his years when he wasn't coached by D'Antoni and you'll see that he was just a very good point guard who happens to be a god within a specific system.

I think out of all schools, I hear NYMC and Loma Linda bashed the most. Loma Linda has obvious reasons. If anyone wants to hear a hilarious story about an NYMC interview I heard from a current med student somewhere else, PM me.

 They actually take the time to bash SDN??

yup!! i was shocked!

id expect the student to say something, but the adcom dude legit came out and talked about interview feedback and how its unreliable and how they dont like seeing negative marks. real weird...

story:

im at nymc last week and the adcom assistant comes into the room and starts braggin about the school. at the end of his schpeel, he comments on how he doesnt appreciate SDN comments about nymc and how its a safety for most applicants and that a third of the new class each year chose nymc over some other school. ksmi reminiscence number uno.

next walks in a 4th years, talks about nymc, how much she loves it, all while choking back a grimace, then proceeds to bash SDN and all the characters who frequent it. up until that point, i was very open minded about the school. then she ruined it. i had half the mind to stand up and say something about it. instead i asked her what she regretted most about her decision and when it included the words "westchester county" i snickered, knowing that she wasnt being honest and that she only got one acceptance.

 It's so odd to me that SDN is a common topic discussed (and put down) by both adcom assistants and student recruiters @nymc. Not very classy of a medical institution if you ask me.

hmm perhaps. They're both going to HOF though. They deserve it.

EXACTLY. D'antonio is great for stat inflation. i think thats why he was brought into NYK. to inflate stats of David Lee, Duhon, Gallo and whoever. theres no way they are letting Pringles coach defense to lebron

totally agree. shows caliber of school. none of the other schools i interviewed at even mentioned sdn. only the applicants did, and thats if you left us to our own doing for hours on end.

it just seemed like nymc was out to prove sdn wrong...which if you think about it doesnt say much considering its a bunch of premeds haha

i havent had SDN mentioned yet in my interviews. Pitt said not to get too caught up in the internet talk about when decisions go out and stuff, which obv implied SDN

dude, they won't give me an interview. wth.

thats actually really funny because my student recruiter was from LA and said that NYMC is composed of 30% cali students. apparently lots of cali residents wanna come to valhalla...!?!??!

i have pitt on the 13; excited to be going. howd you like it??

Yeah, they are. Back-to-back MVPs kinda have to. But before those seasons, I don't think anyone saw Nash as a HOF-type player.

Just to be clear, I also think that D'Antoni's system needs someone like Nash just as much as Nash needs that system. Nash IS a great player, in that system. Replace Nash with Duhon, and you get... well... the Knicks. You might still see some inflated stats, but you can't win with a system like that if you don't have someone like Nash running the show. Put Nash and the system together, and you get a team that could've won 2-3 titles.

maybe. you need defense too and lets be honest, nash is the worst defensive guard in the league and amare doesnt give a **** on that side of the ball

but that was the most entertaining basketball i've ever seen. omg, nash, johnson, richardson, marion, amare playing center. going 150 mph. just pure video game fun.

Good luck to all with interviews tomorrow!

And hopefully more invites come out for those of us waiting!

nymc is like a med school that isn't actually one. like an online university or something. ive had sdn mentioned in both my interview days. its such an elephant

. is nymc like the least respected NY medical school?

You know, I'd totally be okay with not getting another invite, but...

It'd be nice to get some more. I still have 8 schools I haven't heard much from. It's been quiet on the non-interviewed schools front lately.

hey ksmi how come your little green light is never on for you? ive thought about this a few times before and finally decided to ask

I mean, if you have that system and Nash running it... throw in an owner who actually cares about winning, and I think they get there, defense or no. Nobody would've stopped that team with Nash-Raja Bell-Johnson-Marion-Stoudamire and Barbosa-Richardson-a draft pick or two off the bench. They almost beat the Mavs in 06 and the Spurs in 07 with a watered down version of that team; hell, they MIGHT have beaten the Spurs anyways in 07 if Amare and Diaw hadn't been idiots and gotten off the bench.

D'Antoni's system can win, in the right circumstances. It always takes a little luck to win a title, and the Suns always got the bad kind, plus their owner is a douche. That sunk them, but everyone's going to remember it as being D'Antoni's fault and say that his system can't win. Not fair, but that's how it's gonna be.

night guys. i need a little bit of sleep. ill post interview feedback in the afternoon.

gluck ksmi, brooklyn, and others interviewing
