Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Apparently there was a guy nominated who has built 130 schools for girls in central asia and the middle east in gang-infested areas.

If Obama wants to be taken seriously, he needs to refuse to accept the prize and say that there were many, many, many, many people more deserving of it.

i think thats only true for carter. the other two were sitting presidents i believe

Barack Obama: Won award in 2009, President from 2009-Present, Hasn't finished a year yet
Jimmy Carter: Won award in 2002, President from 1977-1981, Had already finished only term
Woodrow Wilson: Won award in 1919, President from 1913-1921, Had already finished one term
Theodore Roosevelt: Won award in 1906, President from 1901-1909, Had already finished one term

fine, but thats not what you originally said. it doesnt matter if they finished a term before they won it, the main issue is that TR and WW didn't have a full body of work on which to judge whether or not they were deserving of the prize. and the same argument could be made about obama.

You're right. The way I originally worded it was not correct. However, for Obama to have won this award, that means he was nominated in February, merely weeks after taking office. Therefore, the nomination was based on a very limited political/humanitarian experience and accomplishments. WW and TR had already achieved much in their careers by the time they won the awards.

It doesn't matter where they were in their term it matters what they had done.

WW- The Leauge of Nations
TR- Negotiated the end of the Russo-Japanese war.

My issue with Obama is that he simply hasn't done anything. If he had done some amazing thing before being elected, then sure, nominate him. But he hadn't done anything and he still hasn't.

yeah i agree with you. i have no clue about the process for selecting the winner, and what criteria are used, so i dont know if he deserves it or not. its debatable. he certainly hasnt done as much as some of the other nominess though...so who knows.

Cause we don't like you. :meanie:

My plans probably don't seem as exciting as metallica's, but they are similar.

Tonight - High school homecoming game with bff from high school, then a "slumber party" at my apt. 🙄

Tomorrow - practice from probably 8 AM until 3 PM (yes, 7 hours of practice, kill me now please), an hour to get ready, marching to the stadium, pregame show (which will be soooo awesome), watch LSU beat up on UF, practice during the entire 2nd quarter 🙂(), halftime show, watch some more LSU domination, march back to the band hall, walk home, sleep (unless maybe my friends are drinking, but I probably still wouldn't want to drink then)

Sunday - sleep until the afternoon, homework. End of weekend.

Bang.

Also, you guys had better win. I'm going to take your talk of beating up UF as a promise.

+infinity raised to the infinity power

Should've given it to Taylor Swift for not punching Kanye's punk ass in the face.

I don't think Kanye would have been that intimidated.

Face Off is a pretty awesome movie.

haha seriously. i could not pay attention to a high school football game amongst a group of high school kids.

I went to the Lil Wayne concert in Camden the other day (the one where Drake tore his ACL), and 99% of the kids were not old enough to drive. Needless to say, that atmosphere for that concert was just terrible.

Oh, I know! I just love the two of them so much I had to give them a place on my list. The way Darryl consistently plays Michael every time = priceless!

face-off is a great movie

i wanna be that dr guy, minus getting killed

Face Off is a pretty awesome movie.

Noooooo!!! This was the worst movie of all time. I got suckered into watching it twice (stupid high school girlfriend). Not only is the plot terrible but it has the worst, most overrated actors of all time - John Travolta and Nicholas Cage. I would rather get kicked in the groin, hard, than watch this movie ever again.

LOL. I thought it was entertaining. I do want to be one of those face transplant microsurgeons though

A-Rod is so hateable.... Now that he pulled his head out of his ***** in the postseason for once, all I can think about is his BS steroid cover up at the beginning of the year.

lol, i hate the guy, he doesnt deserve the money (even tho he's one of the best)

but what steroid story hasnt been a cover up besides Andy's (hgh, but he probably doubled up anyway)

Totally true, but when you think of Pettite, you don't think "freakin' douche liar scumbag steroid injecting $@*^&!"

A-Rod on the other hand....

Kind of like Merriman... whether he does good or bad, you just imagine him doing the "lights out" and going Chris Brown on Tila Tequila....

Seriously, why haven't other people noticed that Pettite is the most favorably seen roid user out there; he manned up to his mistake and people just kind of moved on. He made a mistake, he manned up, end of story.

When you start going through all these histrionics of trying to cover up what you did and what everyone else knows you did, you're inviting hundreds of media members and thousands of fans to collectively keep talking about your story for weeks, if not longer, and start poking hole after hole in your flimsy little coverup. You stay in the news way, way longer if you try and cover it up, and you always wind up looking like a douche, because people aren't THAT dumb that they'll believe obvious BS.
