Me: "What!?! (I am now thoroughly confused) Him: "At school, we voted to see who was best, Santa, Easter Bunny, or Leprechauns, I choosed Santa" Me: "Oh I get it now, well yes like that" Him: "Okay then, so next time don't vote for the robbers and just vote for Santa" Me: "Will do" (mentally exhausted and quite certain he is going to tell his teachers at school that his mommy says the government are robbers).‬ ‪So in one conversation we talked about a dancing lady (who by the way Brayden said had "good moves", tax preparation, the government, police, elections, fictional characters, and it all boiled down to Santa!‬‪Santa for president…at least then I might benefit from all of this "giving".‬‪

yea i just meant like you say one thing and thhey jump to a conclusion and believe it without doubt. i know thhis is a huge stretch but it makes me think about child soldiers
 
one of my friends is a cop in a pretty good size US city and he says when he asks kids in the projects etc what happened they all say "i aint seen ****" and these kids are like 5-8 years old.

The women from SaTC are the exact type of females i try to avoid. they gossip the crap out of you, and have no substance. they would probably rip you to shreds if you showed any interest, and you weren't up to their standards. I find charlotte pretty attractive, and also samantha in a weird cougar sort of way, but the other two have no dice.

E is a show about power, cash money, and hustling. Very relevant to the american entrepreneurial spirit and pursuit of success.

I don't pretend to have any anonymity. Odds are I'll be one of a handful of people (or the only person) from my school/state at any interview at the schools I'm applying to =P. Now you can see my pretty face at least 😉

Ehh.. I felt like wearing it, so I did. I get the feeling that fashion may begin to take a more classic swing sometime soon. Or, at least, I hope it will.

ok ok i was trying not to actually get into this. SaTC and entourage are in the same category because they both treat women as objects to be done and then traded. entourage is up front about it. women rarely actually have a role in the show beyond how a guy is doing her or that she is a crazy woman not conforming to the rich guy's opinion of what a woman should be. SaTC is subtle about it. it is shown from the woman's POV so it seems like it's empowering, but it is also about women being done and traded...the men are given small roles in terms of how the women define them in their lives, which is usually larger than how entourage men define women in men's lives.

SaTC is in no ways actually a good show for women, however i think it's much more realistic in terms of how the world works and sees the sexualization of a culture molding relationships. a show about women written by men is bound to be like this. btw, IV, almost every woman has a role on SaTC that she identifies with, however much she is inclined to deny it. every group has a "charlotte" and a "miranda".

all in all, women like SaTC over entourage because they are the same show taken from opposite point of views. (and SaTC is little older, seeming to be wiser). don't worry, there are girls out there that love entourage and think SaTC is about a bunch of ****** (which....i mean they are quite promiscuous)....but entourage's women are that too, except they aren't given a voice.

lol i'm compelled to reply. I had a class with a feminist who was critiquing modern society, and even today, I disagree on so many levels, and really changed my opinion on modern day "feminists." Feminism used to be such a powerful force that really changed quality of life for women, but now it is attempting to change some of the biological tendencies of women (in an apparent act to become equal), when it actually may not even make women more happy. Let me give some situations.

Biology ignored- This feminist was condemning girls for wearing sexy outfits on weekends to parties and stuff, saying it was feeding the fantasies of men and stuff. Alright, but see it from the perspective of the girl - it's her biological nature to want to be as appealing as possible. Biologically the female tends to wait for a potential suitor to come, rather than being in an active pursuit like the male to find a mate. So, in our society, looking hot allows the woman to feel confident and at ease for the simple fact that she is doing what her biology is telling her is right. Also, she has to compete with the other girls who are also trying to look attractive for potential mates. This is the basis for all the jealousy and comparing clothes and make up and all that stuff.

Biology favored - We were also talking about grind dancing. This honestly made me laugh, she was arguing that girls are degrading themselves by dancing in this fashion. Alright, if this was the logic, why is it okay for guys to do this then? I tried to analyze this, and the conclusion I reached was that feminists are trying to say that females by nature shouldn't be promiscuous for biological reasons (having to nurture a child, seeking 1 mate out of many, etc.). So, in this case they are supporting the biological differences between men and women, yet dont want to create an idealized society where men and women can act the same.

Biology ignored - Big argument now by feminists is how it is okay for a man to choose to sleep around if he so desires, but a woman is considered a ***** for sleeping around. Alright, so essentially the feminists are saying they want to a transform society into making it OK for women to sleep around. Alright, sweet, but my point is, that this is going against the feminist's other argument that women shouldn't be promiscuous due to their biological nature to wait for the best suitor.

My point is, unless feminism stops this pointless stuff, it won't be taken seriously. Focus on things that matter - Rights, Equal Pay, Abortion, stuff like that.

sounds like you met a faux feminist. feminism is in and of itself kind of an oxymoron. true feminists are for the things i bolded and underlined (abortion does not go under a feminists ideology, as it says women have one of two choices: effing up their lives with a child or destroying the possible future of said child (don't want to start an abortion war here, as a disclaimer)) so, if a true feminist is for equality and women's rights, aren't they an "equalist"?

think about it, women and men should be equal, why call yourself a "feminist" implying you are for the advancement of women only? i understand that they are named as such because women traditionally have been seen as < men in society, but the name draws so much negativity in today's culture as it implies essentially sex's version of "reverse racism"*.

anyway, i don't really want to get into it on here (for one this is a fun thread! and two if we really start going i will reveal way to much of my ideology and theories and my anonymity will be shot (papers, views, some of which are google-able by my name) ) but i respect your opinion. 🙂

Meh, I was never big on going out before I had a baby. Video games are my entertainment of choice. If we wanted to go somewhere, my mom would watch the babe, but not going out saves us plenty of money, too. 😛

yes i'm in an 8-year program so i'm in for drexel as long as i don't dip below a 3.5 😆

indianv, what exactly differentiates a DO from an MD then? they aren't physicians in the traditional sense right? i'm thinking the pay-grade must be much lower for DO considering the more lax application requirements & high rate of acceptance..

If you're already accepted to med school you need to do a LOT of research on this topic; considering, at the end of medical training DO's will be your EQUAL in every sense of the word.
