Haha, nah. EA screwed up and posted ads in other countries that a Dragon Age II demo is coming soon and BioWare was supposed to make a big announcement today. So, a lot of people were under the impression that the demo would be releasing today.

Turns out that BioWare's announcement was about some facebook game being in the beta stage 🙂rolleyes🙂 and that they can't confirm nor deny the possibility of a demo (oops on EA's part I guess). A lot of people on the BioWare forums were raging it out earlier with many of them sporting banners like the above in their sigs.

Yes, I like videogames and RPGs. There, it's out. 😀

That's sad. I wasn't giving old people a hard time; the person who replied to my comment (and apparently others as well) misinterpreted my comment. Someone said old people are awesome to a girl (was it you?) and I didn't realize that they both knew each older as being older. I posted a picture of a girl slapping a guy because I thought it was a youngin' insensitively using the words "old people" on a girl that's not over 40. Compared to most people on this forum I'm old (24), and I can't wait to grow old. I've always felt like an older person in a kid's skin while growing up. 👍
 
Now the match thread is making me even sadder. I think I'll stop going there. 🙁

Tough break for a&m kids. hopefully it gets better (hopefully TT-Lubbock didn't accept enough and can take all the extras?)

I'm pretty sure thats Ursa's match....ugg. He Probably doesn't have access to a computer or we would know.

I would think it would be illegal to force people to defer after accepting them, especially if you didn't agree to such when submitting your application. Hopefully they up the scholarship ante and it works out for everyone (uVA also over accepted last year).

I'm fighting with my ex employer about the status of my (late) W2's. HR sends me to PayRoll. PayRoll sends me back HR. Keep in mind that these are federal employees probably making around 80K. Yeah. 🙄

They over accepted. Matched 250 students for 170 seats (which actually doesn't seem that bad, as a lot of schools over accept, but maybe because its Texas its not the same?)

They are asking people to defer in exchange for $2000 put towards first year tuition, letting other choose any campus they want, and some people can get consideration for a dual degree. It sounds like they are all weak options.

If not enough people defer by April 1st, they will choose who to automatically defer. Today, students are being asked to send in information on why they shouldn't be chosen to defer.

I saw where a 44 year old matched to TCOM this cycle. pretty cool.
 
yeesh, that sucks. it could still all workout though, fat chance. $2000 should be more like $200,000.
 
The overbooking is a big deal because a lot of Texas residents only apply to Texas medical schools. Post match (Feb 1) classes at schools besides Baylor are pretty set, even though there will be waitlist movement. Also because of the match you are auto withdrawn at any school you ranked lower than the acceptance you "match" to. So there are a lot of people who had multiple prematch offers, decided to rank A&M higher and now are unsure if they'll be starting medical school next year because of it and their other apps are no longer active.

I think a chunk of change (60Kish) and/or the option to complete an MPH for free (or close to free).

As always, I could be totally wrong though.

Hoody, that sounds AWFUL. I hope this doesn't affect you at all. I wouldn't defer for a year even if it meant going to another school.

Haha yeah its different! I'd love to live in NY for 4 years. Hopefully that's Manhattan (Cornell, accept me pleaassee!) and not Syracuse lol.
 
Hey everyone! Today has been a stressful day for me too. Work is just crazy right now! We're about to kick off our annual fundraising campaign, which means everyone's running around like chickens with their heads cut off. And I've been working on this project that needs to get approved by my boss, my boss's boss, and my boss's boss's boss, and of course I'm getting blamed for all these little things. Sheesh. I think I just need a vacay.
 
It's like an ice age here. School (and work along with it) will be canceled all week. 😕

In other news, I got my rejection email from Baylor today lololol. Not a surprise at all. :laugh:

Classes were canceled up here for today but things should be back to normal tomorrow. I kind of feel let down by this blizzard, actually.

Incorrect. This is a post. The grouping of a common topic (c/o 2015) is a thread. The next level up is a forum (or sub-forum like for schools threads). SDN forums overall is a collection of forums (forums.studentdoctor.net), which can also be called a message board or forums homepage.

Ok... I concur. How is this incorrect? I'm saying that I'm older than most people in the pre-allo forum. Cougs was saying that there are several regulars older than me in this thread, so I was clarify that I wasn't talking about this thread but instead the forum.

Yeah the whole A&M thing isn't too good of news right now. However, I'm keeping the faith that some waitlists will move and people coming from OOS or others with offers to go OOS will decide to decline A&M because of this.

Anyone remember what the date when schools that have accepted you can see your other acceptances? Where do we find this info, I can't remember...


I was looking for that date, and I saw another interesting date... March 30th. In the MSAR (pg 33, last paragraph), "medical schools will--by collective agreement--issue a number of acceptances at least equal to the size of their first-year entering class." I guess after that date we are OFFICIALLY interviewing for waitlist spots.

remember most schools have to overadmit, so even with a class "filled" i wouldn't say you're necessarily interviewing for a waitlist
