Hello! I hope this is the right thread to ask:

If you could pick between Indiana University and University of Wisconsin, which would you go to? I just want to make sure I'm not leaving anything out for each school when tallying up their score 😀. Btw, I'm OOS (from Cali) for both. Thx!! 🙂

wisconsin, solely based on athletic departments.

+1 for Wisconsin sports.

Also, Wisconsin is significantly cheaper for oos students.

She's got a fairly high fever and a rash on her chest. The rash could just be from the fever, but I think she might have roseola. If she does, it's not really serious, but roseola doesn't usually come with a cough and congestion like she has.

She slept on my chest for about 45 minutes. She woke up and was immediately fussy. She keeps saying, "My ??? hurts" and crying. I wish I could figure out what she's saying. It's breaking my heart. 🙁

She ate a banana and that made her happy for a few minutes, but then she was sad again. I was worried she was going to puke right down my shirt. I gave her a lukewarm bath and I finally made out "My belly hurts." I don't know if it's from her rash or if she's got gas pain (she was tooting in the tub) or what. Now she's having a grape popsicle while she dries off a little then we're giving her some more medicine to try and keep her fever down and putting her to bed. 🙁

She's been like this pretty much all day. She was kinda sick yesterday too but not enough to keep her home from school. She stayed home today, and probably tomorrow, too.

Poor geeklet! I hope she's better soon, GC.

How's everyone?

I shadowed a derm guy yesterday to see what all the fuss was about. He only does medical and surgical derm, no cosmetics. I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

I'm sorry Geeks, I hope it's nothing too bad and that she feels better soon!

Nice Court! I haven't shadowed a Derm, but I think I want to before I leave for med school.

So I just made an uber-delicious dinner: balsamic chicken over pasta. It was really easy to make but so tasty. Plus the recipe is from Jerry Seinfeld's wife, so I feel like now I have something in common with Jerry. (We we eat the same foods, I think we're best buds now.)

couldn't help but  at that

The med should help. If she can get a good night's sleep, hopefully she'll be better in the morning

Dude, BB, it was frightening. My hands were in the tub with her and I was so sure she was going to crap in there.

I REALLY hope she sleeps through the night. I gave her some ibuprofen to keep her fever down (it'll probably last longer than the acetaminophen) and I put some Vicks vapor rub on her that I hope will help the cough and congestion. AND her humidifier's on. So far, she hasn't made a peep. I poked my head in her room and she's sleeping soundly. God, I hope she stays that way. She woke us up between 4:30 and 5:30 the last two days. :xf: :xf:

I recommend it. I never thought I'd be interested at all, but it was a really good day. The guy I shadowed does Mohs procedures, basically outpatient lesion removal. While everyone else was having March Madness, we were unfortunately having melanoma madness. There were 6 cases of suspected and diagnosed melanoma that day. 🙁 So basically the biggest thing I learned is that you don't have to be a microdermabrasion/chemical peel pusher as a dermatologist.

Poopy baths /= fun. Get some sleep, lady.

That breaks my heart just reading it🙁

Holy crap I'm unusually bored tonight... Delerious from last night's overnight shift but still can't bring myself to go to bed at 9pm. Gonna start troll threads until I get probationary status. Maybe if my username is in red, people will pay more attention to me 🙁

Pet peeve... when people insist they're great writers even though they suck. This becomes a peeve when they start insisting that their changes to the group writing assignment are good, when they are absolutely awful. I am ready to get out of undergrad.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that she's ill--and somewhat more serious than a basic cold/flu. You're doing great, and she's sleeping sound, which makes my heart wrench just a wee bit less...😀

Anyway, hopefully she'll be better in the morning! Although personally, I'd stick with acetaminophen for fever reduction and ibuprofen for any pain-related symptoms....With ibuprofen, there's always the concern about GI upset when not administered with food (as I'm sure all of us premeds know 😛)...ANYWAY, hope all of you guys feel better soon (baby Geeks from her symptoms and you two from the lack of rest) 😀

*hopefully I haven't incited an acetaminophen vs. ibuprofen argument*...like whether radiation from Japan has affected the United States/Canada yet... 😉

Thanks, Trio. I usually use acetaminophen, but since you should give that every 4 hours and ibuprofen every 6 I figured I'd get more mileage during the night from the ibuprofen. It didn't seem to bother her, thankfully. I slept through the night, but hubs said she woke up a little at one point but went back to sleep pretty quickly, unlike the last few nights.

She's still feverish, though, around 100-101 axillary, and I was always told to add a degree if you take the temperature under the arm, so her fever's closer to 101-102. Nothing to run to the ER over, but enough that she's staying home with the hubs again. I love that he can work from home, dear God do I love it. She isn't even acting that fussy for the most part. Still, my poor bebe.

this weekend my buddies and i are gathering in a beach and having a good time. one of the plans is to have a drinking game based on our rejection letters

we're going to read all of our letters, any time words/sentiments like highly qualified, difficult choices, go elsewhere etc are read, need to drink. unusually high number of applicants is finish the drink. need to refine a bit more, but that's the framework. at the end, we'll burn all the letters

Sun, I have to tell you. Hubs and I have just started watching Archer on Netflix. OMG, it's awesome.

If you get chocolate milky ever, ibuprofen > acetaminophen for your liver :d

I approve.
Also, I suddenly find myself in desperate need of a soft pretzel.
 oh, preggers. I'm glad to hear that Chicklet's surviving her sickness!

This is exactly what I was hoping you'd say. Have fun!

It's so bad. The other day hubs texted me what I wanted from the grocery store. My response, "I want that grapefruit in a jar and some plain potato chips!"

:hello: Hi peeps!

This is a random question, but what do you guys think about pet insurance?

I'm really digging this new Bob Dylan single... sounds like he's trying to recapture that magic and vibe of Freewheelin' Bob Dylan..... 🙄

Dbeast and I were bored and randomly assigned each other new avatars. Mine's a little more threatening than his.

Please... People should be more scared about a child flying a giant penis. Besides chimps are well known to have the worst aim in the entire primate family. It was on Jeopardy last night.

Side note: Archer = awesome

Are you sure it was Jeopardy? Are you sure it wasn't... NOTHING??

😉

I didn't get the penis bit til you said something, but it's totally there.

We had it for our older dog for awhile, decided to stop paying for it, and immediately after, she badly hurt her foot. I think all our dogs have had it since then... but I agree with Daisy, putting aside $20 bucks a month might be a smarter decision.

Cool. Thank you guys for your thoughts. I was thinking the same thing, but wasn't sure if anyone actually had it and liked it or thought it was really worth it.

Glad to hear that she's got amazing caregivers by her side! I wish I had people around me to sing me "soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur...happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr..." Hehe. 🙂

Haha, I think when I was in high school, I made the mistake of doing ibuprofen to help with my hangover....ooops lol.

I like. I sometimes feel like changing mine, but the little flamingo baby is just so cute.

Awww, well I'm glad she's starting to feel better. I hope she continues to improve.

That is awesome. 👍 to the "unusually high number of applicants" bit.

Nomnomnom. When I got back from Temple Second Look I was going on and on to my bf about how much I loved it, and I'm pretty sure I threw in "OMG and apparently Philly has the best soft pretzels ever so we have to live there" a few times.

Sucks there's a fever, but kinda glad its ONLY a fever thus far...let's hope that it goes down and nothing else shows up...

Oh my God those pretzel nubs were sooooo good! But did you not know that we have the best soft pretzels in the world?! Shame!

BTW, the original "Philadelphia Pretzel Factory", which now has over 100 locations between several East Coast states, is around the corner from my childhood home? Literally around the corner. I remember when they opened. Nom nom nom.

*Adds PPF party tray to list of foods at summer party*

I didn't know before last weekend! But I do now!

I didn't know before last weekend! But I do now!

I'll forgive you because you grew up 3000 miles away. 😉 We are known for three foods:

Cheesesteaks

Soft pretzels:

Tastykakes:

And I guess, to a lesser extent, Rita's Water Ice, because the original location was in Bucks County just north of the city:

BTW, on the first day of spring, Rita's gives away free water ice. 😀

wit'!

GC, I didn't know Rita's was local. We always get water ice from places in South Philly.
Yeah, the website says the original location was in Bensalem. Also, I'd like a cherry gelato please!

I'm a bad Philadelphian and I always order my cheesesteak as "Cheesesteak with fried onions and mushrooms". Also, I don't care what they say is "authentic", I don't want friggin' cheese whiz on my cheesesteak. American, Provolone or GTFO.

IKR? They are so goooooood!
