Stressing so bad.

Ordered transcripts from my community college in August and hadn't received them two weeks later. Called my college and cannot reach anyone ALIVE. Tried so many different numbers...at one point I called the technical help desk. This is how it went.

Help Desk: "Hi this is the Help Desk."
Me: "Hi, I'm trying to reach someone about my college transcripts that never arrived, I have a deadline coming up and I really need them asap. I can't reach anyone AT ALL at the Transcript Office, Admissions, Registration, Student Services--"
Help Desk: "Let me transfer you to the Transcript Office."
Me: "Noooo---" *transferred*
And back to the maze of phone directories.

So I re-ordered transcripts on Sept 15 they were mailed the 21st and here it is the 26th and I am FREAKING OUT because I have not received them yet. I call the transcript service people (they are not related to the college) and ask them every day if they are coming.

Me: "What carrier were they sent?"
Operator: "Ma'am, I don't know the specific postal carrier's name, they use a random one every time."
Me: *headdesk* "I meant like, FedEX, UPS, etc."
Operator: "Oh, just the US Postal Service."

Then as soon as I receive them I need to like, OVERNIGHT them to the colleges. My university transcripts were so easy and fast, and these people have been ridiculous. My first transcript order that never got resolved...I basically gave them free money because I can't talk to anyone alive to get them re-sent. It's a Texas college too, so it's not like I can waltz on in there because I live in Raleigh.

Uuuughhh just needed to rant. I hope this transcript thing doesn't mess everything up. I don't know how many times I've read: "You will be rejected if we don't receive your transcripts by the 3rd"

I think I know which Texas college this is...because I had the exact same experience trying to get my transcripts. I had to order them twice. Grr.

They are adorable! Are they babies or full grown? Do they bite?

That shot is of adolescents. When they're full grown they fit in the palm of your hand. And yes, they do have teeth. However, like all other critters, unless you give them a reason to, they won't bite. 😉

Thanks for understanding my quirks. 😛 Tell ya what, I make it to Ohio and we can trade - you can teach me about horses and I can slowly work on your fear. Until then, no monks. I'll use a sheep for my supplemental should I have to resort to a photo. Right back at ya with the 😍!

I don't think it's a bad thing. Basically as soon as they started receiving materials from people they changed the status to in academic review even if they hadn't received everything yet. I think it means they're just starting to calculate GPAs and look at who they're going to invite for interviews. I wouldn't worry about it but you could contact Kathy to make sure.

It's on the IA State Supplemental application. On the status page if you've sent anything in to them it should say in academic review.

i'm tempted to just write about how i grew up korean american and had to juggle dealing with two completely different cultural perspectives...and maybe talk about how i didn't have a lot of money, especially when my dog was really sick and so that made me appreciate affordable veterinary care.

I'm still waiting to find out if my course is approved for Wisconsin...although Carmen made it sound like I should go ahead and apply. Do you know if they are okay with you submitting the Data form before the actual application? I just don't want to spend the money if the class ends up not being accepted.

i mean i don't see why they'd have a problem with it per se...if they don't see a matching VMCAS application with the RADF, i'd assume they would just discard of/not look at your RADF.

Ah, understandable. I was actually kind of surprised I was able to get a page out it since I have a pretty solid opinion on it as well. I guess that's where I have to thank all my random classes I had to take for my core curriculum. I learned how to ramble well. Haha. My course on Bio-ethics probably helped a good bit too.

I just submitted my VMCAS app to both as well as Aurburn. For Mizzou you at least have until November 1st to do it if that helps at all. And I don't think it will be that bad since they have a pretty small word/character limit for everything.

If you come to Mizzou you can hang out with me and Scbf.

Also Wisconsin's supp is NOT hard, and Mizzou's is mostly busy work with some short, easy essays. No whining, I applied to both of those schools!

um i'm like SUPER anxious and haven't submitted my VMCAS yet because i'm worried that i will think of something else to write...

proofreading that today, finishing up my CSU supp today...my goal is to have everything submitted by today or tomorrow at the latest...i feel like i'll need a glass of wine (a big one) before being able to press that button though! 😱

I'm with you! My application is going out tonight and I feel like I'm ahead of schedule. Just have to finish Auburn's supplemental and get that sent out.
I totally feel like adcoms aren't even going to consider my application.
I don't have much veterinary experience, just a lot of research experience working with rodents. Definitely going to hit submit and then go out for drinks... that way I won't sit at my computer and pick apart each detail of my application.

nervous cuz i had to extend some of my vet experience "description of duties" into the explanation statement/background information in order to get everything in...it's for my time in the ICU and internal medicine departments (separately) mainly because i've been there for such a long time. Guys, do you know may be it is necessary to submit VMCAS application first? I tried to call Tennessee several times, but nobody did answer. So i am scared a little. 😕

I can't imagine they would expect every applicant to submit VMCAS first. It shouldn't be a problem. Don't worry too much! It will all work out!👍

I submitted my VMCAS first, but not sure if that's necessary, it just was for Ohio so I finished VMCAS before doing any supplementals. I would email Deborah Shepherd, she is very good about getting back to you in a timely manor and is super helpful. She emailed me to let me know they received my transcripts and VMCAS was done, but my supplemental wasn't. I had already submitted my supplemental so I emailed her back and she had me forward the receipt and she apologized and said that sometimes the business office does not send the receipt of payment to our office. So, she got mine taken care of. I think she would email you if there was an issue with yours? You'll probably get an email from them once you have your VMCAS in, or maybe they wait to actually process your supplemental until your VMCAS is in? Not sure.

My credit card was charged within 48 hours of submitting the supplemental. Just try to keep calling the school!

I haven't submitted my VMCAS yet, either. Right after I submitted the supplemental I got an email receipt from the school. Several days later, Deborah sent me an email confirming that they had received the application and the fee.
Maybe check the spam/junk folder of your email?

I wouldn't. I was involved in Vox: Voices for Planned Parenthood (a safe sex club on campus). In fact I was the president of it. But I didn't put it down anywhere or ever talk about it. I didn't want anyone to have any prejudice against me because of their opinions about Planned Parenthood.

I just called, and they said you don't have to have submitted VMCAS to submit the RADF, since you have to have at least started the VMCAS to do the RADF.

I completely respect Chinola's opinion, but I think you should feel confident putting that sort of club background in there. By and large the schools value diversity and aren't - in the application process - going to judge you because of a particular political/social activity. If your contribution to that club reflects community activity and leadership, I think it's valuable experience that the school wants to know about.

That said, if you're going to lose sleep worrying about whether they'll think negatively of you, it's probably not worth so much that you should include it.

Now is a good time to start grappling with how to manage that anxiety, because it only gets worse every step. You get the interview offer, and it ratchets up. Then the days before the interview you get nervous. Then you're anxious afterwards wondering if you got in. Then you get in and you start thinking about the million things you think you need to do. Then you start and the tests feel overwhelming. School is a complete blast and I'm thrilled to be here, but the stress level is pretty much ridiculous. And the second years keep pointing out to us how much worse they have it. You get the idea.

So. Hard as it is, try to relax and enjoy the time you have now. You've hit the button, you can't change anything, so make a point to really enjoy life for a while. 🙂

i pretty much have everything filled out and such but i'm way too nervous to actually submit the darn thing! this weekend is going to be so nerve wracking...and the whole point was for me to submit VMCAS and all supps by tonight because i'm working two 13 hour shifts this weekend! 😱
