I feel so prepared for school to start!!

This week I:

-Threw the bridal shower AND bachelorette for one of my best friends (who lives 5 hours from me) And they were both AH-MAZING!

-Bought a really effing cool tablet PC for vet school and created my notebooks for my classes in OneNote

-Picked up my coveralls

-Got my backpack in the mail

-Lastly, double checked my school's checklist for pre-school requirements and realized I'm all set!

Now I just need my financial aid offers.

LETS DO THIS!!

What kind of tablet PC did you get? I'm still in the process of picking out a computer and haven't fully ruled out a tablet yet.

And congrats! I still feel behind since my housing isn't 100% official. It really needs to hurry up so that I can stop freaking out about living in like the library of my school or something.
 
I'm really scared. Like super scared. I am moving in three days, and I'm really terrified to move to a new place and start my life over and am praying that I don't suck at vet school and make friends and am not going to be a sad girl sitting in the bathroom crying.

NStarz, you will be fine! Our class seems to be pretty awesome and so do you, so I am 100% positive that you are going to have a ton of friends. And don't worry about the big move. I freaked out when I moved to Columbus four years ago, but it is an awesome place to be. As far as the sucking at vet school thing, everyone is feeling that right now. We are all in this together and we will help each other get through it.

Enjoy the next few weeks and I can't wait to meet you and everyone else at orientation/meet and greets!

I got a Samsung Slate. Seriously- it's amazing. My husband is an IT manager and cant believe how cool it is. It has 128G solid state hard drive, 4G Ram, intel dual core I5 1.6GHz, runs windows 7, weighs 2lbs... It is a tablet so I bought the bluetooth keyboard so I can use it as a tablet or computer. It was kinda pricey but my husband was pretty adamant we spend a bit more now so i can use it for many years. Also- Microsoft store is also offering a deal right now for 20% off anything over 1,000$ and 15% off over 500$ so we got a steal! Plus if you have student ID they give you a free Xbox.

We had a seriously great experience at the Microsoft store 😀

It'll be OK NStarz! Actually, it's gonna be way better than just OK, it's gonna be AWESOME! It's my first time moving out too and I move in the same day as you. I released my last 4 creatures yesterday and it's really getting real now, but I am sooooooooooooooooo excited.

Everyone I've met from our class so far has been awesome, the last thing you need to worry about is making friends.

Marino, are you going to the Columbus Zoo on Thursday?

I think once you get here and start meeting people you will become less scared and more excited. I've been to two meet-n-greets, and it's so calming to know that everyone has the same fears and nervousness that you do. We are all in this together!

Sadly, I am not. I am home visiting with my family and will not be back in Columbus until the August 12th. That is when I get to move into my apartment 🙁.

aww don't say that!! You're going to make TONS of friends, so many that you won't know what to do with yourself, and then you're going to 4.0 every single class!!!! YAAYY NSTARZ!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😍

I move in a day and a half 😱, :soexcited:. Cleaning done 👍. Packing, not done 👎. I have to pack my clothes, printer, books, camera, and a bunch of other stuff tomorrow, then have a get together with some co-workers and have to give my pinkie squirrel back 🙁, then the next morning it's off to Columbus. The time is flying by!

Last day of work today. Then it's all about wedding planning for the next couple of weeks (and of course the man picked THIS week to go to Vegas for his bachelor party {he has insanely awesome friends} - so my bestie has to come to all my tastings with me, oh darn 😉 ).

Then I get to move back down to my cozy little apartment in Blacksburg. <3 God I cannot wait to be back down there. I miss it so much.

And football. It starts soon. And Hokies. And oh Jesus I was so made for this time of the year.

I just went through the Starbucks line and the lady got all excited for football when she saw my Cleveland browns shirt on lol. Too bad she wasn't as excited about making my drink right 🙄
 
Moving all of my stuff up to Davis tomorrow. Excited because this brings me one step closer to vet school, but scared because it means I'm less than a week away from being alone in a new town.
Not to be a debbie downer or anything. 🙄

I'm moving 1/3 of my stuff up tomorrow. It's easier when you live an hour and a half away and can make multiple trips over the next week and a half 🙄.
 
Officially move in on Saturday!!! AHHHH!!

Wait, I just realized that I now have to repack most of my stuff from the subleased house...fail.
 
I'm moving tomorrow too :soexcited:. Got the van and my car all packed up and ready to go. I fit a ton of my stuff in, a lot more than I expected. I'm moving half my stuff down tomorrow and the other half on Saturday 🙂. I live 3 hours away so not all that far from home. Can't wait!
 
I am also moving tomorrow.. August 1st seems like the popular choice!

I will be enjoying a 7.5 hr drive form Los Angeles to Davis. Go me..
 
So I am sort of sub leasing my apartment for the year (long story) and our security deposit had to be paid to the current tenants and the apartment taken as is. I didn't feel comfortable paying the full deposit without seeing the apartment first so we gave them half the deposit and agreed to pay the other half tomorrow when we see the place. The guy emailed me today and said "just keep it". Ok so either
A) that's awesome
Or
B) the apartment is trashed :laugh:

I'll have to report in tomorrow.

Once I get back to Edinburgh, I will be by myself in a new country not really knowing anyone this is going to be interesting. I guess I need to come out of my safe little shell and make new friends, I suck at being outgoing and making new friends...

It'll be easy once school starts though because you'll be with like minded people. Many of which won't have any friends yet either! Then you get to pick and choose the good ones 😀

If it makes you feel better my drive from Oklahoma to Oregon took 3.5 days, what with stopping for the dogs and the boyfriend's parents every two hours 😛 Although one could argue, ANY amount of time in a U-Haul is too much time....

Mine was 5 days (AZ to NC). The first two days were close to 12 hours, but the other days did get shorter and shorter. At least with only 7.5 hours you don't have to deal with hotels. :shrug: I can totally see how it sucks though. I moved 4 hours back home at the beginning of the summer, a month and a half before making the cross-country move.
 
Come on guys, my bf drove the 36 hours back to his home in Mexico (being the only driver) with only a few hours break at the border. You guys can do this!
 
Is it normal to have a complete and total mental and emotional breakdown before vet school even starts.. because I am definitely stressed out/hitting rock bottom right now....
 
Aww, don't stress DVM Dream, it'll be OK.

I made it to my apartment and got everything up to my apartment, nothing broke so far... 😀. I really like my apartment, I have all new appliances and countertops. It's small, but it looks like it'll be plenty big enough for me and my pup. Super happy and the move went well. Back to unpacking 😀
 
Driving to columbus. We're finally.in ohio at least! Two more hours to go...

I'm going to go with yes. Especially since you're starting all over in a new country. I'm already preparing myself for my inevitable mental breakdown when I leave for school. But if you're at rock bottom you can only go up! 😀 So big hugs! Everything is going to be ok. One thing at a time.
