Aw, that's really sweet!

I also had a dr. Recommend the cardio III. I think the logic is that it's nice for students to have a "good" stethoscope so it's easier to identify heart sounds/defects. As beginners, we'll need all the help we can get. But seriously, I don't think it will matter if someone doesn't have "the one everyone else is getting".

Luckily for us, the TVMA is providing stethoscopes for us, specifically the Littmann II classic, so I'm not complaining.

My aunt and uncle actually offered to buy one for me as a graduation gift, but ended up gifting me a medical reference dictionary and a color atlas of anatomy (dyce I think) that their vets recommended. 😍😍😍 I love my family.

😱 *GASP* How could you even think that Abs!?!?!?!? 😡 No matter where you go for vet school (and yes you will make it in 😀) you will be soooo well liked. You will NOT be a social outcast. So don't even think it. In fact, get it out of your brain! Right now. This minute. This second. This instant.

(And if anyone ever gives you trouble about it wherever you go, call me 😉)

Wahoo! My housing situation might finally be figured out! Now just to figure out laptops and do my insurance and I think all major things will be taken care of.

yayyyyyy! orca, are you getting excited for school? i'm getting so nervous/excited.

btw, haven't even taken care of HALF the things i should - still need to do insurance, still need to do rabies vax stuff (just got vax records, which took forever and still waiting for titers!!!!), still need to order lab coat, dissection kit, textbooks, stethoscope, microscope....

why am i such a procrastinator :scared: 🙁

I'm excited but super nervous. I already have textbooks (Dyce and Little Miller), my stethoscope, and am taking care of the microscope tomorrow. I haven't done the insurance yet cause I still don't 100% know my local address and will probably put the rabies vax paperwork in the mail this week. I'm getting them done at school and am a little terrified they might knock me out for a week. Still need to do the dissection kit and gloves. Will try to remember to order those this week as well.

I still just can't decide on my computer. Go Mac or stick with a PC...:scared:

MAC!!! i made the switch from PC --> MAC about 2 years ago and will never go back 🙂 I'm totally apple fan now, i have an iphone, ipad, and macbook. and love it

i need to order so many things, but i'm literally broke so i'm waiting for my next paycheck 🙁
i just feel like such a slacker not ordering stuff yet. ugh.

That's what everyone tells me. Hahaha. I just really like OneNote and haven't quite gotten the hang of Growly Notes yet. My sister has a Mac so I've been fiddling around on hers. Although, I feel like I'm going to end up taking handwritten notes anyways cause I've never taken them on my laptop before.

I'm not a hardcore Apple fan or anything though. I have an ancient iPod and an iPod shuffle, but that's about it. My phone is an Android and I love it. My sister's iPhone with it's one button confuses me. Hahaha. I would imagine my phone would be compatible with a Mac right??? I never even thought about anything like that, so I'll have to make sure. My other concern is that my back up external harddrive is configured to a PC (although it works for both), so I'd just have to make sure I don't eff anything up when/if I make the switch to a Mac.
 
Well, I made it! 20 hours of moving (yes, from 8am Sat to 4 am Sun) and Holy crap I am still tired! But got the bed and futon built yesterday and found a close grocery store.

Internet gets installed Wednesday, and then I can do the lovely disc assessment I didn't think we were going to have to do.

Oh, and on the topic of stethoscopes, my lab got me a Cardio II as a going away present in orange. My favvvvvv color. I am pretty sure I will be able to pick mine out of the crowd 🙂

How exciting! So glad you made it down safe and got everything moved in. 20 hours of moving 😱. I am planning on moving some stuff down when I move in next Wednesday :soexcited:, like some clothes, dresser, kitchen stuff, desk, and bed, and then move the rest down on the weekend. Can't wait.

And thanks for the reminder about the Disc thing, how could I forget that 🙄.
 
Been working out like a madwoman the last few months to relieve stress about starting vet school... and I finally get to show it off next weekend! Off-road triathlon is going to be AWESOME!!!

(Plus my doorman told me I was looking "cut" on Friday. Which totally made my day. lol)

You must be the only non-Type A in our class, LOL. Everyone started worrying about housing the week after acceptances rolled out. Glad you found something, but I wish you were living in my building 🙁. AFAIK, I'm the only first-year here.

Haha. Well my acceptance was totally unexpected since I was rejected post-interview back in February. I've only known I've been going to Penn for like about 2 months now. Well, almost three since we're almost in August. But no, I don't consider myself to be type A. I'm pretty laid back and kind of just go with things. I don't generally plan ahead too much and work better under last minute pressure. At least that's how I've been in the past. Things might have to change a little bit.
 
Filled out my Disc and surprise surprise, I got dominant and needs to be in charge and not very understanding of people who make mistakes. My overall assessment was creative :laugh:. That's about the last word I'd use to describe myself.

It was really hard answering the questions because I currently work at an electronics place where I've written all the instructions, train others, and generally feel in charge (especially since it's my last week 😀). At my last job at the emergency clinic I seriously felt bipolar, some days would be great and others HORRIBLE depending on the doctor and the patients. Sometimes I thought I was learning really fast and other days I couldn't do anything right. I answered the questions based on my current job, but would have gotten totally different outcome if I had answered based on my last job.
 
Every time I have to make buy more stuff that I don't want but know I need for veterinary school, I die a little on the inside.

On a less depressing note, I just got my big sib! So excited!!!!

Now on to vet school!

So I definitely met with some fellow students for happy hour yesterday!! It was a lot of fun, I think that we are all going to get along well. 😀 Have any of you met with your classmates yet?

I have this feeling that it may be someone I know that doesn't like me. There are several second years that are from my undergrad school, and they may have paired me up with one of them thinking we would have something in common...

I'm going to email my school next week if I haven't heard from them by then.

I still don't know mine, either! I ASSUME Oregon State has big sibs, I thought every school did. Granted we don't start until Sept. 24th so there's still plenty of time.

If it does turn out to be someone you have a problem with, I'm sure you could email the school or the class of 2015 president and ask if you could switch with someone. Or if you just need someone to talk to about the school/classes/whatever, feel free to PM me. 🙂

Already had one small meet up, and the first C-bus area one on Friday! I think we decided to do meetups once a week on Fridays until classes start 👍

So I just finished my DiSC Assessment, and I am a Perfectionist. Which is SPOT ON! How do they do this?!? It also says that I need to work on being more assertive (true), I fear antagonism (true), and I take to long to make decisions (also true).
