Right? She just doesn't appreciate them. Although, I can kind of understand the one since it's gonorrhea, which my ex got me as a joke, but still. They're funny!

Also, my attempts at packing is turning into a fashion show. Partially because I need to figure out what clothing actually fits since a lot of it is from pre 15+ lb weight drop, but also cause I don't want to pack. And it's even more important that I do because a person is coming to appraise the house tomorrow morning and my room currently looks like a bomb went off.
 
I'm about to drive back up to my apartment in a few hours and start veterinary school tomorrow!!! (well orientation).
One problem... I am hungover as all hell and can't seem to find the motivation to do anything this morning. This drive is gonna suck! 😎
I get to meet my roommate though 😀

I just have to say that I am slightly jealous that the space around your bed appears to be around the same size as my entire bedroom.
 
Yeeep! We had our Freshman Leadership Experience (team building and kubaya stuff) Friday, we have Orientation tomorrow-Wednesday, and then classes start on Thursday.

This is gonna be a busy week!
 
I also start orientation next week (Monday-Friday).

I'm going down to Philly today to paint my apartment and move some stuff in. Then tomorrow is the official move in day since we're bringing all my furniture. Getting super excited but also more nervous as the time goes on.

I have had my fill of anatomy, no more. I can't believe how much has been covered in just the 4 days of lecture we have had. Good thing it is still mostly review.

Got blood drawn today for varicella (chicken pox) titer. Apparently its not enough to report that I had them in kindergarten.

I am so amazed by how much material we're covering and how I'm managing. I'm sure future me will hate this statement, but I kind of love it right now. 😍 Also having lots of fun making stuff for bake sales! 😀

I kind of hate you right now. Not that I am not handling it, but anatomy is just not my cup of tea. 😉


And someone needs to just kill the hyoid apparatus. So annoying. I hate that thing. Who the hell came up with the names for that thing?

I've never really liked anatomy before, but doing it in more detail and seeing how everything connects is making it way more interesting to me. Our physio class has also only been doing genetics stuff, which is a big area of interest for me, so I'm pretty sure I'm not going to like it nearly as much in a week or two. :laugh:
 
Got bored of studying the hyoid apparatus so I decided to make it into a song using Queen's, "We Are the Champions", as the melody. It isn't very good but at least I will know how the bones are arranged. Now time for bed.
 
The more idiotic your learning mechanisms are for anatomy, the better things stick. So songs, poems, mnemonics, silly drawings - do it.

That's my advice. From someone who is sooooo glad to not have to go into the anatomy lab next year.... oh yeah.

Yeah I'm waiting until my first official day (Monday) to change it 😀.
 
So I start orientation tomorrow, Thurs, and Fri at 7:30 am!!! :soexcited: And then class starts on Monday!!!!

Seriously, where has my summer gone?
 
Survived my first day of orientation 😀, feeling like an official vet student now. This really is happening :soexcited:. The day was kinda long and drawn out, but could have been much worse. I was surprised by how many people I actually know already from all of our get togethers. Our class is pretty darn awesome!👍
 
1st day of orientation and this girl is exhausted! I think I talked more today than I have all summer!

I think it was good overall. I am one of those people who talks with their hands and I kept getting yelled at in the team building 🙁 but it was good meeting everyone! And putting faces with names.

I liked the number square and the maze one, our group was awesome at both. We made it through the maze with only one mistake, tons of misteps but only one mistake 🙂. We got the number thing done real quick too, but we were in the small group of 8, kinda wish I had been in a bigger group for that. Did NOT like the puzzle one, people in my group didn't get that when you give them something there might be something you want from them lol. The team building stuff was much better than the Disc stuff in my opinion though, I found that pretty boring, although maybe it was because we were all worn out from the morning stuff and then had just eaten a pretty big lunch and they turned the lights off 😴, it was seriously hard to stay awake!
 
Just got back from 3 days of off sight COLE. Camping and team building and friendship forging- OH MY!

12-14 hour days of talking and team building every day. I think I'm ready for the science now! Although it was much, much more fun than I thought it would be.

I felt the same way about FOLE last year. Went into it really dreading the team-building and trust falls but actually had a really good time (other than the lack to sleep due to the a/c that sounded like a 747 when it kicked on and like a bomb when it turned off). Some of the people in my small group I may not have had a chance to really get to know after classes started so it was pretty cool.
 
On my second day of ice breakers and team building. Its ok... I'm meeting cool people, but really feel this could have been done on campus and without me sleeping on horrible camp beds.

I think a camp thing would be pretty fun!

Our day 2 of orientation was like 2 hours of general info. and faculty panels, then lunch and a residency talk that I didn't have to go to. Ice cream social isn't until 4, though, so it's kinda like what do you do in between? I went home since I live close, but I always feel like I'll miss out on something so I'll probably go back like an hour early or something. Gonna take my tablet up and make sure I can get online at school.
 
I have a kind of love-hate relationship with our dissection cat, Paprika. On the positive side, having to dissect on such a small little animal is nice because you really learn where the muscles are in relation to one another. On the negative side, everything is SO FREAKING TINY, ahaha.

Can't believe so many places haven't even started yet! We're having our first anatomy test on Wednesday!
