Class of 2016....how ya doing?

Oh god I've done NOTHING over break. Like I've opened my e-mail twice. And printed out a syllabus and then decided that's it.

As far as I know we lost a couple of people, but one girl is appealing and the whole class is hoping it'll go through. She deserves to stay in the program with us.

I was convinced I was going to be one of them - Biochem nearly ate me alive. But I survived and actually did well enough on the final to yank my grade up a full letter grade and a half, so that was... actually miraculous.

Give me another week of sleep and I'll be happy to jump in to semester 2. 🙂
 
Can't believe break is almost over 🙁. Just 2 more days until next semester starts and we're in class 9-4 like everyday including Fridays 🙁.

Same here. Except we have class from 8-4:30 or 5. However the afternoons are mostly labs so we might get out early sometimes.

Classes start tomorrow morning... less than 12 hours away now... I am definitely not ready. I was supposed to study some during break so that I wasn't starting off behind... That definitely did NOT happen... will need to get my rear in gear starting tomorrow so that I don't fall too far behind.

Is it a new semester or are you continuing a term?
 
School starts on Wednesday for us, but we have to pick up notes and books Mon or Tues.

This semester we have:
Anatomy II (large animal)
Physiology II
Micro-Anatomy II
Virology
Epidemiology
Parasitology
Clinical Correlations & Ethics II
Application Based Learning Exercise (ABLEs) II

Schedule is much more class and lab time than last semester. I'm not looking forward to the long days.

They haven't posted our day-by-day schedule yet but it looks like we have more extensive labtime in classes other than just Anatomy this semester. It's gonna be a doozy, I have no doubt...
 
I wish we could have picked up our notes sooner, we go back today and note pickup is 7-9 and class is at 9. No time to organize everything. Oh well, we have a short day, so can do that in the afternoon. Let the craziness begin again.
 
First day of classes and my hamster is dying 🙁 Was up most of the night trying to make her comfortable and worrying, got 2 hours of sleep. I'm making an appointment to have her euthanized after class :cry: Worst start to the semester 🙁
 
I'm so sorry Ky! That's a horrible way to start the semester.

You guys normally get notes early? We usually get them day of the first lecture or if the course coordinator slacked, not until a few days into the class (like surgery ugh).

Classes this semester:
-Surgery
-Dermatology
-Gastrointestinal
-Systemic Path
-Neurology
-Anesthesiology
-P&P Medicine (I don't know what it stands for so don't ask)
-Urology
-Ophthamology
-Emergency and Critical Care
-Orthopedics
-Clinical Pharm

Then a week off to see my brother graduate from college and relax before we get thrown into clinics!
 
Thanks everyone. Her appointment is in half an hour. I feel so lost right now. I knew this was coming for awhile (she's almost 3 years old); the timing couldn't be worse. I really wanted a good start to this semester since the last one wasn't great 🙁 I guess it can only get better unless I have Emiloo's luck of last semester. Butterscotch was the best hamster anyone could ask for. I will miss her so much 🙁
 
Although I don't have my anatomy grade yet (we won't get it until the end of this quarter), but I have so far passed my first semester! I was hoping one class would be a letter grade higher (I was close to the cut off) but didn't quite get it. But I passed and that's all that matters. I just have to get used to seeing a lower GPA than what I'm used to...although I plan on stepping things up a bit this semester too. Actually being good and already working on my study guides.

Is it wrong to wish classes started this coming Monday, not in a week from Monday? I'm not working and I've got too much free time on my hands. All my house related projects are done and I'm getting antsy. I've never not worked or been in school for a month. Idleness is freaking me out. 😱

Our schedules look almost identical! We start on the 22nd too, I feel almost sane again after such a long break.

I've slept an absolutely obscene amount this past month. I actually feel like I've gone in to estivation, woke up for Christmas, and then went right back into it.

On the plus side, I've started to get excited for classes again (no, CHW, you're not the only one 😉 ), so I guess that means I've recouped!
 
2nd day was much better than the 1st. New anatomy group without crazy ex-roommate, clinical orientation with live animals, and the classmates that heard about Butterscotch were very sympathetic. I hope this upward trend continues 🙂. Hated coming home today, though. My place feels so empty without Bscotch and one of my cats is with my BF so I'm down to 2 cats and a betta for a couple of weeks. That's plenty for most people but I'm used to a full house.
 
Could be better. Just started yesterday. Got my new Boston Saturday. Today he's in the ICU on oxygen because he had really bad heartworms and even though he finished treatment a month ago, he probably has a thromboembolis. And it is totally possible to fall in love in such a short amount of time. He's so sweet and I love him lots. I'm also really worried about him.

Sounds like it. It seems that many dogs recover from this with very little to a moderate amount of chronic respiratory issues.

Just going to say that I didn't get any calls last night!! Which is good because they said they wouldn't call until this morning unless someone awful was going on. I'll get to spend a good amount of time visiting him at lunch today. :xf: that everything just gets better from here.

Not a bit - although I am digging the experience I'm getting in the bacteriology lab! 😀

The wife and I watched The Big Lebowski... I think I may need to be in an altered state of consciousness to understand the point, if there is one 😕? There were some piss-your-pants funny moments though, so we enjoyed it - thanks for loaning it to us!
