Any of you pressing submit without LOR's in? I feel weird doing it and am a little confused if everything will work out ok, though without being explained how this works further I have been reassured that this is an ok course of action

I also will be pressing submit before my LOR's are in, also because of committee processes.

For those applying DO, I guess in the instructions it mentions to not use word to cut and paste into your application. Save your file using textedit or some .txt file, THEN cut and paste into AACOMAS.

Apparently word makes the formatting all wonky.

Eh they say the same about the AMCAS. I pasted from word. Formatting was all jacked, but then I just fixed it manually.

Yea, the formatting issues were totally obvious. And, no, I did not need to print it out to notice them. I've never printed the app, but I have opened up the .pdf that opens when you click the print button and it looked fine after I made the corrections.

I do the same. I've started to calm down now and have knocked a few of the crazy reach schools off of my list. It makes me sad though.... Maybe I'll keep one or two for funsies.

Keep them. You never know what could happen, and you are already applying to a ton of schools, a couple more can't hurt.

Yeah. The interview process and filling out forms is annoying; however, those forms help me a lot with my AMCAS and the committee letter includes things that aren't covered by the LORs, which is nice.

Yeaa I had to do that too. Eliminated U of C and UVA. Leaving Northwestern for funsies. I keep thinking about adding one more reach one for extra funsies, but I likely won't do it.

Any particular reason why no Pritzker? You're from Chicago, so I thought you would apply to all the Chi-town schools except SIU.

Leave NW and UChicago. Pick one more off of that list maybe.

Columbia, Pitt, NYU, and Boston U are currently on my list (not counting the Cali schools) I might be getting some help from the family regarding adding more schools, but I think I'm going to use the extra cash to apply smarter.

Agreed, especially because you are applying to fewer schools than the rest of us.

Honestly I would feel foolish to be dispensing out advice on my weakest section. But, yes, I just read each chapter and did all of the problems as I went along. After I got through all of the material I repeated the chapters that were giving me trouble (Fluids, Waves, Mechanics, Optics, and E & M. If you can't tell, I took the MCAT as I was taking first semester physics lol). I used EK 1001 for bio, and it was great. I was killing BS sections towards the end, which is why I was upset with an otherwise good score.

sup 2016. it's been a while, got some disheartening news from a couple schools (jeff, rwj said my GPA's too low for consideration). My school list has been trimmed from 36 to 1, doing EDP now. 25 hours until june 1st!

Yes, you can submit without LORs being submitted. You don't need them until after you submit your secondary, then the school will obtain them from AMCAS/whereever.

My school processed the transcript request on the 19th and it just showed up as received by amcas this morning..

I've only tried printing a PDF version of the app, which looks fine. I'll try the HTML version when I get home tonight. I copied/pasted directly from word, and I don't want any formatting issues.

I requested everything on May 5th.

The longest one took about 3 weeks. I snail-mailed my transcript request+check to CA from IL, and then they had to send it to DC.

anyways, I looked into that MCAT-review.org site that was mentioned by YNK, and it is awesome. It explains things without all the words used like in my PR review books. With my test two weeks away, its good to find a simpler way of gaining info. I really don't want to have to take this test again.

Maybe Nick's sticky will provide some advice to trim your list: places you don't want to live in, whether you prefer lectures, focus on primary care, etc. I should probably take that advice and finalize my own list.

Realized that I won't be submitting my AMCAS until mid-late June because of some grades that won't come out until then. 👎 Granted, this isn't too late, so I should be fine and it gives me more time to finish up Work/Activities and my PS. 😀

FCBMD and Berries - thanks for the kind words it really helped. Just going to cover everything that I don't know from here on out (which is a few physics terms and Ochem spectroscopy stuff) Probably just enough to get the basics and then just pretty much take practice full lengths every other day for the week prior to the test. I can do this, that 36R will be mine 🙂
