Got done with my 6th practice test in AAMC 4. Why won't my BS and VR scores increase (i literally got a whole passage wrong in verbal, totally pissed me off). This is so frustrating because they're so close to being great scores. 😡😡

In better news, my PS score increased... by one🙄

Maybe I should push my test date back 😕

If you don't mind me asking, what have your most recent scores been? If you're not doing as well as you want less than three weeks before your test, it MIGHT be something to consider but its not the end of the world. You can do so much in three weeks! I think I read on here somewhere that someone raised their score from a 30 to 35 in that much time.

I feel like everytime I learn something new and go over it, it doesn't show up on the test. Its like each practice test knows exactly what I haven't covered extensively and just plows it on the test.

What I wouldn't give for a 5 point increase within 3 weeks 🙄 Maybe I should take time off from work and just take more tests and study.

The later AAMCs tend to be more representative. That's really the only order. And I agree with you about TPR. Their tests sometimes don't even make sense and are riddled with errors. Not to mention that they really want you to use their "answer 6 passages in 10 minutes each and guess on the hardest one" strategy on verbal.

Not bad, just different...I've never lived in the city. The area directly around the hospital is bad, real ghetto. I'm living in a nicer part where are all the students are (~10 mins away)..it's pretty cool.

I told my friend (who is a baltimore firefighter *swoon*) that I must be crazy or something, cause I've been looking at West Baltimore (U of MD) and North Philly (Temple) all weekend long and have been getting excited. Really excited. As long as there's security to do safewalks to my car late at night I'm good to go.

Oh- cool. Yea my "committee letter" includes ALL of my letters. It's like a committee packet. And, yes, we can still submit and get verified while waiting for letters.

Same here. The committee letter is more like a cover letter with some extra tidbits that might not be covered by the LORs.

Yea, I got the FAP approval in late 2010 when I signed up for the MCAT, and cannot get the proper documents in on time for this year. I e-mailed schools and will be getting the secondary fees waived though so I'm happy.

Oh okay. Good thing you are getting your secondaries waived. That amount of money would have been astronomical.

Bookfreak: I think I'm dizzy from that one. Yes, I will pre-write some, but not until I submit my AMCAS. I'm trying to give myself a little break, so I've been sleeping in hardcore (1pm). When it comes time for secondaries, I will be waking up in the morning with my coffee and Microsoft Word.

You guys shouldn't be too worried about the bad neighborhoods. Most places are safe if you stay smart.

👍 I have about 60 schools. 3.5 GPA from somewhere in CA, i'm not too sold on my app.

That's my favorite type of cookie to bake! I always put baking on my resume, so when I met with the dean of admissions of a local med school, he asked me what my signature dish was. Then he proceeded to ask me if i make curry 🙁

Hm, definitely doable. PS is really easy to bring up with a ton of practice. it's the easiest, IMO.

I don't know how you can sleep until 1 haha. I slept until 8:30 today and I have a headache :/. Guess that's what I get for waking up at 6:30 everyday. Sucks though because I can never sleep in anymore without feeling like **** for the rest of the day.

A break is good. You don't want to be too burnt out for secondaries. 👍

I suppose so. Funny thing is, I've always dated outside of my field (chemistry/academia/medicine).. with always less-than-stellar results. At this point in my life anyone that's comfortable with themselves enough to respect what I do is a good start. If I hear "I'm not smrt cos I didn't go to college" I'm usually out the door ASAP. I didn't think I was going to even go to college and I almost didn't graduate hs on time, but I got lucky and ran with that opportunity.

As far as street smarts go, just be careful with your smartphones in public, especially if you're on a train/bus and it's at a stop. Don't get caught off-guard like I did. So pissed at myself for days for that one.

this is awful because i know EXACTLY how you feel, but LOL at how you wrote it... cracked me up. seriously though, it sucks but other than your skyrocketing blood pressure, keep in mind that if that happens time after time after time and you get so ticked off that you study the hell out of that concept... eventually the evil practice tests won't have a curveball to throw! anyway, keep truckin, and good luck

Submitting August 1st won't kill you....it will be the added time for verification and then secondaries that will. You most likely wouldn't be complete until mid September.

yea, I've been doing the same thing. In the past week I knocked off dartmouth, duke, mount sinai, and emory. I kept Pitt and NYU though

Yeaa I had to do that too. Eliminated U of C and UVA. Leaving Northwestern for funsies. I keep thinking about adding one more reach one for extra funsies, but I likely won't do it.

Lol. Class of 2020? Jeez, you are going to be one stressed out person if you're already SDNing!

For what it's worth, someone will probably start it somewhere in the 2014 range. That person will get reamed, but you can indulge all you want then 😀.
