Shojo mangas aren't my thing, but I'm different when it comes to animes though. Although, I do tend to lean toward the style of more violent fare like Hellsing, Berserk, Black Lagoon (one of my favs), etc. As for Fairy Tail, it is good, but if your style of manga is more romance then it might not be for you since its more like Naruto/One Piece.
 
HAHA I'm a fair-weather fan when it comes to baseball and if I was gonna rep it would have to be Oakland. 😛 I love going to live sporting events though!

I"m OOS, but I used to live in Houston and I go to school in Oklahoma so I'm going for the state ties/Southern thing. I'm applying to UTSW, UTHSCSA, UT Houston, UT Galveston, and A&M.

I am just going to see what happens, but I like what I've heard about UT Houston (plus I loved living there)...

1) They send you an email saying they received it.

2) Yes 🙁 Even non credit classes, AP classes and classes taken at other universities at that. Sucks balls.

Nope, still a month. But they changed the schedule this year. Usually we start third/fourth week of August, but with the whole winter break thing, they pushed everything back. So we usually get out around Dec 15th and I think now we get out the 21st 🙁 I might actually be missing a family member's wedding because of it!
 
i just added my 15 schools to AMCAS and saw the total. $622. ugh.

and now i'm rethinking my entire list...

This one is on Rose. You know, I never would have guessed it, but after this series, I think I actually hate him. He seriously made me sick to my stomach in this one, much like how Ben Gordon used to make me sick with his foolish attempts at buzzer beaters. 8-25 FG percentage, 7 turnovers (one real crucial one), and a complete non-factor down the stretch. This has been him pretty much all series. Take your MVP trophy to the scrap yard. 😡

While I agree that his performance was severely lacking in the 2nd and 3rd game, and in the 4th quarter today, you can't put it all on him. I think since he's MVP, everyone is putting an ungodly amount of pressure on him and he folded. He, Noah and Deng played for over 50 minutes today, whereas no one on the Heat came that close except for Lebron. I dunno, I think the whole team has been under performing, not just him.

Mainly him. No one on that team- other than maybe Korver or Bogans or someone else offensively insignificant- has come anywhere near his pitiful FG percentage and turnover rate. There's a lot of pressure on him, yes, but that's what MVPs do- exceed expectations. Everyone's due for a bad game or two once in a while, but three in a row in the biggest series of the season is grounds for snatching that MVP trophy right out of his hands and throwing it in the trash.
 
Eh, here's to hoping they pull a miracle the next couple games.

Just got back from the Angels game. Walked out half way because we were down 5-0 to the A's.

I know! it made me extremely sad. It was painful leaving half way but I couldn't take it.

San Jose lost in double overtime to Vancouver and are out of the playoffs. Don't follow hockey too much, but I have been to some Sharks games and kinda feel bad for my home team.
 
so I asked about sending a letter of interest after I send in my primary (this school screens secondaries) and this is the response I got:

"Furthermore, it is not necessary for an applicant to send a "letter of interest" since you are applying to our school it is assumed that you are interested. Also, we evaluate our applicants on GPA's, MCAT, activities, personal statement, and other categories, not on how interested an applicant is in our school."

She never stated that they wouldn't consider me sending a LOI, what do you guys think?

Wait til you're screened out before sending a letter of appeal. I know one non-trad who did this at UCSF.

I would send a letter of Intent, not interest, either after you're screened out or after secondaries. A letter of intent basically tells them why that school is your first choice and, if accepted, you would attend that school above any other. These work pretty well. I know a few people who were either screened out or rejected post secondary without an interview who were later offered interview spots/acceptances.

Yeah based on that email do you guys think I could send a letter of intent anyway? Maybe I should of said letter of intent instead of interest in my email...

I would only do it if you were screened out or if you receive rejection post-secondary. I'd do it if you were waitlisted as well. Doing it after an interview is pure opinion.

A letter saying something to the effect of hopefully the adcoms will reconsider and allow said person to fill out a secondary application.

Agree with Steve. Are you worried that you're not going to make the cutoff numbers for a secondary or something?
 
My opinion:

Letter of Intent = more for people who are post-interview (usually waitlisted) who say they would matriculate here if accepted

Appeal = if you are rejected pre-secondary or pre-interview, you can plead your case and see if the school will give you another chance.

Letter of Interest = more on the iffy side; I would think that it is post-interview and updating schools on what you have been doing lately, but I think it can also be sent pre-interview to give that extra push in your favor.

This all depends on the school, of course. Some don't take any updates, some only post-interview, etc. These letters are not really geared for pre-secondary IMO. You let the school make their decision first and see what steps you need to take afterwards.

Yes,my IS school screens secondaries so if you get one you get an automatic invite for an interview...I'm just nervous I don't make the screen since the school is my top choice, I wanna do everything I can to show interest.

Hmm... I was unaware that any of the NC schools gave "auto" invites...

Who here is using interfolio? I might use them for a couple letters....can you pick and choose what letters go where?

Example: I use doctor x's letter to send to school a,b,c but use doctor y's letter only for school a? Is that possible?

I'm using Interfolio for all of my letters. I love it! You just get all your letters, send them to AMCAS, and AMCAS will notify you when they receive them I think. Then you can assign which letters go where on your primaries. I don't think you have to send letters until secondaries though. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
