I really miss Five Guys burgers. The burger patties and toppings (except the malt vinegar) are gluten free, but they use the same spatula to handle the beef and the buns, which both get grilled. Damn that cross-contamination. I really want to try a "protein-style" In-N-Out burger.
 
Ok, so I think it's high time you all share oatmeal ideas so that my mornings can become more exciting than they already are. Oatmeal recipes using plain oatmeal are preferred. Instant is fine.

My typical breakfast:

2 packets of Trader Joe's instant oatmeal (milk, microwaved)
2 teaspoons maple syrup (approximate. I just freepour)
1 banana (I usually end up eating a quarter of it while I cut it up)
2 tablespoons mixed dried fruit (strawberries, cherries, blueberries.)

What do you do with yours?

I'm actually serious. My recipe's getting boring.

Plain oatmeal. Scoop of flavored ice cream on top.

Some people freak out over this. I don't know why. People put sugar and milk/cream and some flavoring on their oatmeal all the time. Why not combine the toppings in a delicious scoopable pre-made concoction?
 
These are the things I often add:
- walnuts, raisins, and cinnamon (occasionally with some maple syrup)
- walnuts and berries (blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries - a mix if I have several types)

I can not WAIT until blackberries come back into season now. I've never had them in oatmeal - never thought to add them. But it's time.

I put a ton of sugar in my oatmeal, but then again I usually put sugar in everything that has a plain taste to it. If i have cornflakes or regular cheerios for breakfast, I add sugar. Sometimes I add sugar to my spaghetti too if I feel like it. I really like sugar.

Looovee oatmeal!

Mine usually consists of two handfuls of quaker oats, some almonds and craisins, a tablespoon (approximate) of cinnamon. If I have fruit, sometimes I'll mix in fresh strawberries, blueberries and/or banana.

I've started eating savory oatmeal with onions, mushrooms, and a fried egg, topped with grated Parmesan. It sounds odd, but surprisingly tasty.

ah good. and I thought I was the only only who coats their oatmeal with so much cinnamon. yummm

Hahaha I do the same thing, but with Splenda. I'll eat like healthy boring cereal and dump 4 packets of Splenda on top. You choose diabetes, I choose cancer.

I, too, am a Splenda convert. I put 3 packets in my oatmeal and use it to sweeten my green tea.

am i the only one that notices a difference between artificial sweeteners (splenda/equal/etc) and sugar?

also, to weigh in....i notice the diff between agave / splenda / sweet n low / sugar, but i attempt to mix it up on what i use so as to evenly distribute my chances of getting any diseases related to any of these products. 😉 canbetus for the win.
 
i can't deal with artificial sweeteners the taste is totally inferior to the real thing. No diet drinks, or adding splenda to my tea/oatmeal/cereal. Its just weird tasting

also, for lunch, i ate plain greek yogurt that i mixed marion blackberry jam into (DERRRICIOUS, sweet and fatty...), this homemade slaw with broccoli, carrots, apples, dried cranberries and pistachios, and some leftover pizza - sausage, goat cheese and grapes on a whole wheat crust.

i am reveling in a glorious foodcoma.

i dare you to have a taste test. 1 nibble of each sweetener blindfolded served to you on a spoon. It sounds easy to guess, but its pretty difficult. Most people I know will only guess 1 right out of splenda, equal, sweet n low, and regular sugar

After converting to Splenda, I can no longer stand the awful taste and "nastiness" left by sugar if I don't immediately brush my teeth. I don't eat much sweet stuff though. I sort of broke my sweets habit when Dunkin' Donuts, Entenmann's snacks, and Little Debbie snack cakes became off-limits due to the gluten-free diet (I've decided to avoid replacing them with GF versions). That stuff is addictive.
