lol thats why most of us don't come out of the class thread with the exception of the SSD. The class thread is a nice little sanctuary from the madness of the rest of the forum.

Well, I didn't have too much of a problem. What I did was catch a ditto of every nature. Then, I checked to see which ditto had perfect IVs and marked them (black/white makes this REALLY easy).

Then, I used the following items to transfer ****:

Everstone: Nature
Power Weight/Band/Belt/Lens/scarf/oneotheroneIcan'tremember: Perfect IVs.

This way, within a couple hours, I can get a pokemon with the right nature and EVs.

THEN. Infect with pokerus (got this a while ago) to double EVs, equip with the power scarf/band/whatever and EV train. With this strategy, it takes me around 64 battles to EV train a pokemon. And keep in mind I've done this over the course of six months and have 12 IV/EV bred pokemon, so I'm not doing this too frequently.

Hmmm. I knew about Pokerus and the power scarf, but I didn't know about the other stuff. Interesting. Which other Pokemon will you use to compete in PaxEast?

Nidoking

I only know of the bolded. I'm assuming the others are from Black/White. No tanks? These are known for high attack and/or speed, right? The fire types selection weren't that great to begin with, IIRC. Just throw fire attacks onto one of these if they can learn it?

It so is. Pre-exam study-hell mood swings or something. I actually got upset enough that I had to call out a newbie via PM. Ive never done that before.

Ferrothorn: Grass/steel double-sided wall.

Jellicent: Water/Ghost Physical wall.
Whimsicott: Grass Gets priority on status moves. Generally spams leech seed and substitute.

Tyranitar: Rock/Dark Specially defensive. Gets 1.5x boost to special defense from sandstorm which he auto-creates with his ability.

Hydreigon: Dark/Dragon Special attacker (with fire moves)

Nidoking: Poison/Ground Special attacker - his new ability sheer force removes secondary effects of moves that have them and adds 30% to the power of those moves. Reasonably bulky and resists fighting, which is huge in the metagame. Also learns fire moves.

Dragonite: New ability, multiscale, halves damage if Dragonite is at full health, meaning it's more of a tank.

Gyarados - Surprisingly bulky. Its ability lowers the attack stat of the opponent to 75% upon its switching in, and it has very good special defense.

The other two are, in fact, speedy attackers.
