Ahhhh! So lucky! My best buddies are driving from CT to go!

Unfortunately I start med school in May and have school that week! I feel like it would be tough to duck out to Chicago for a weekend of craziness like that.

Two students were fatally shot last night like three blocks away from my apartment. I'm supposed to go running but they haven't found the guy and I'm scared to go outside... I can't wait to move.

Successfully made it back! And no, I live in a terrible area. It's just unusual for students to be involved in anything worse than muggings. Although now 4 students have been shot this school year. :help:

it's official. i suck at work.

it's not even because i'm unskilled...it's prolonged lack of effort.

i'm so scared to go back to school. my ass will get handed to me right quick.

People always ask me if I'm excited to get back to school and start studying again. Why would I be excited about that?!

I think about that from time to time too. I'm so used to doing minimal work since our lab relocated and funding was "misplaced". I even get to sleep 9 hours a day!

Man, that ish is crazy. Although, if I get into either of my remaining schools I'm going to be in places where things like that happen a lot. :scared:

I've turned into a bum since my graduation in December. I haven't taken a real courses since spring 2010 (mainly just thesis research since). I'm a little scared about starting school. :scared:

Somehow I think we'll all do just fine once school starts. It's not like we haven't studied crazy hours during undergrad. It's all about adjusting to new environment...(right??) :scared: I hope

i dunno, i think of it more as someone opened the door to a place called slothdom and i cannot unsee or unknow it. this door is around everywhere I go in life. Now that i know that the door is everywhere and that behind it lies a magical world of tv marathons, plethoras of food and shopping, sleeping in and general indulgences, i want to open that door. badly. all. the. time. 😳
 
All I know is that I cannot go back to my undergrad sleep (or lack thereof) schedule. I just don't think I could handle that anymore. I think I'll be fine as long as I don't have the totally insane, time-consuming commute I had back then (almost 80 miles round trip!). I love sleep.

Hopefully I can nail that door shut when school starts, and I pray to God that I'm on the right side of that door!

Speaking of commute, I am having a reallllly hard time debating whether or not to live at my parents and commute 1 hour or take on-campus housing. Why can't I be rich?!

Would you say that extra money (~$900) is worth the extra sleep I'll get?

$900/month? so 20+ school days/month. that's ~$45 every day. basically, $20/each hour of commute..would you take a 10 hour/week job that pays $20/hour? and you know there's more to be considered in the cost/benefit analysis. like if you get along with parents, if some chores/cooking come free with the living at home part, or if the proximity to campus will improve your studying/social life, etc, etc.

That's a good way of looking at it. To be honest, 10 hr job at $20, probably not. I do get along with them, and I would live on a different floor with a separate entrance and food will be free. I might be able to split the drive with my brother's girlfriend since she will be commuting to a hospital 10 minutes away for rotations, though that might get complicated.

so much to think about, but in our magical world, such decisions can be placed on the back burner.
