Class of 2017 cycle opening!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You're kidding me....?! So did your app get sent out? I don't know how this works...?

Not yet, but I went and looked as soon as I saw that they calculated my GPA. There is a column in the "programs" section of the application-status area where they note when AACPM "mails" the application to the schools. They have not done that yet, but it would be pretty fantastic if they could do that for me this week! I would imagine the schools would take no longer than a few weeks once my app is there to decide on an interview invite. Hopefully anyhow. I think last cycle had people receive interview offers in early September? That would be amazing!

* as an edit for my feature collegues, my transcripts arrived on 8/8/2012 and my GPA was calculated and posted today on 8/16/12.

Hmm so by this standard I should have mine on the 18th...

I didnt recieve a letter grade though for the class, just the gpa grade and if a 2.3 is considered a C or C- because i forgot which one, wouldnt that benefit me since pod schools consider that a C+? Because wouldnt the points for my 2.7 be more since my school considered it a C+ because now ill recieve points for a B- instead?

If you don't have a letter grade or numeric grade on your transcript then (according to the FAQS) you need to put no grade (NG).

Yea my school gives out gpa grades, so for instance my anatomy lab grade was a 3.2, which according to my prof was an 82 percent.

No I know what column you're talking about, but what else do they have to do before they mail it out??

Had my 2nd of 3 transcripts received earlier. Other was received 8/8. All 3 were mailed on 8/1 haha.

So your school gives points instead of grades? And then tells you what points correlate with each grade? Why don't they just give grades? If they gave you 2.7 but no actual grade then it should make no difference in your gpas because they use the points to calculate gpa, not your letter grade.

Ok i think ik how it goes lol. If ur given numeric grades then it benefits ur gpa but if ur given letter grades on ur transcript then it does not and ur pod school gpa will be lower.

it actually wouldn't change your gpa in either scenario. A B- is a 2.7 so if your transcript reads B- or 2.7, they are still the same.

your gpa will change if your school hands out a 3.4 or a 2.6 because AACPMAS uses 3.3 2.7

But a 2.7 to my school is considered a 77 percent, they just use numeric grades. I guess ill just let them calculate it lol.

Is this grading system similar to what they used to (or maybe still have) at UC Santa Cruz?

My school seems boring now! All we got were the boring A's, B's, and C's....

Someone explain the verification thing with this app. After you send in your transcript, time to it takes to verify it is around 2 weeks? And then there is no verification of anything else right?

considering the amount of A-'s i have gotten I would love your school..... I get so pissed when I see I got a 93 and only get a 3.7 instead of a 4.0

94+ is an A at my school, it makes for a great time in science classes with no curve and no extra credit...

The downside though is the opposite holds true too. If you worked hard and got a 89.4 and someone else got a 79.5 it would make no difference, both would be B's.

Haha been there! I had a buddy that slacked off a bit in an upper level science class while I studied regularly. He made a 80 compared to my 89!

I been wanting to go out and party a bit this month, before fall classes start BUT I have been paranoid of the worst un-needed random trouble lol. Do the schools pee test anyway?

/hypothetical of course.

CSPM is more expensive then DMU... I don't know if that could be a driving decisions.

so my final transcript finally shows today as delivered with a date of 8/16 mmm i think they are a little behind with updating 😛

Same thing happened to me haha. All transcripts are received!

Mine did that too. Strange! Maybe all the schools already have my apps!

Haha wishful thinking.

they send 1 batch of apps weekly so 🙄 maybe they are trying to have that big batch ready to go so that's why they seem to be working faster than last year with some people having GPAs up and everything since last week

Has anyone else seen any updates on their apps? I haven't gotten any emails saying that there were errors so I'm hoping that's good news so far!

Has only one person seen GPAs so far though? I mean, I know people are applying that aren't in SDN, but a lot of people on here have already submitted everything.

A couple questions:

How much does the personal statement matter in getting interviews? I have a 3.64 GPA and a 25 MCAT so will it matter a bit less for me?

Does my app need to get sent before my GPA is calculated? My transcripts are in already.

I believe yes you need to submit before thy will start to verify.

Don't super goof up the PS and you should be fine.

I mean, I'll read it, but I am by no means an expert in PSs. Although, my mom did cry when she read mine... 😀

Mine still hasn't... and they got all my transcripts on the 10th too. =(

There is no GPA information available.

probably this week.

hopefully my app gets mailed out this week...?

they mail 1 big batch a week so unless there is a bunch of people to with everything done and ready to be sent i doubt it . I think we may start seeing movement next week.

Transcripts recieved 8th, 9th and 10th but still no GPA calculated.

I could see how yours might take longer than some of the others just because you have 3 to verify? Not sure though... Other than the 1 person who said it took 8 days, anyone else have any counts from days received to calculated?

Also, I noticed this thread has had over 10k views so I looked it up compared to all the rest of the pre-pod stuff.

This is the 21st most viewed thread of all time in the pre-pod section! Cool story huh? I imagine by the end of the cycle (considering we're not even a month in yet), it could be the most viewed thread OF ALL TIME!!!

:soexcited::clap::highfive::claps::woot:😆:banana::zip:🤣

Lol, that would basically make you a celebrity or something for creating this thread. Quick add that to your application!

If true...just another reason why I hate being so smart ~_~

I had three to verify as well. Last one was received on the 9th, calculated on the 20th.

I sent in 3 transcripts as well, but I'm starting to get worried bc one was processed on the 10th, the next on the 14th, yet the last has yet to process....

That would be correct. So is this talk about "sending applications out in batches" legitimate or an idea someone has? Anyone applying a second time and know how it goes? haha

from the Q&A part on the left hand of the application website 😛

Ahh! Just submitted my application and payment! Decided on five schools now. Crossing my fingers. Still waiting on my school to finish writing my committee letter and submit my letters -.-
