Hey all. Joining the ranks of the Class of 2017 now that I got my acceptance (USF SELECT). The last class I was apart of was the Class of 2007 for MPH so it's been a while.

I've been an Army officer for 5+ years, so I will be leaving in a couple months and returning back to the United States simultaneously after a year being Korea.

There should be a 2-3 month gap between starting school and returning to the states so I'm contemplating what to do during the gap. I'm thinking a road trip to visit friends and family and maybe some national parks, leaving about a month for setting up a place and get ready for school.

It's gonna be nice, it's been a while since I've had this much free time (i.e. no employment, school, etc).

I didn't see all the nominees so I can't say anything definite. However I did see Argo and while I thought it was entertaining I have trouble believing that it was the most deserving of those films.
 
Am I the only one that doesn't care about the awards they give to actors and musicians?

Lincoln was the best movie by far. By far... It is worth a rent. Argo was ok, but just ok. Nothing really interesting about the film.

Don't get any of that this year. Most years I give up alcohol for Lent, and break the abstinence for St. Patty's, but this year we have an exercise (practicing should hostilities commence against the North Koreans) during that week. We'll be lucky if we have the day off and then no booze rules will probably still be in effect.

Me three, especially as an LA native, IDGAF. Occasionally I'll care if there was a movie I really liked and those that worked on and played in that movie were nominated... But even then I don't watch the ceremonies.

I loved the Lincoln movie, I wanted Spielberg and Tommy Lee Jones to win. I liked Argo as well but I'd like to buy the Lincoln movie. DVD or itunes??

My childhood dog died last night. I just got the call. Apparently she was walking beside the road and someone was distracted and drove on the shoulder for a moment. They hit her and my parent's bushes. She died right there.

Definitely not the call I wanted to have first thing in the morning.

Really, I am not super upset. I loved her but we had known for a long time that we would have to put her down. We had been slowly peeling off the bandaid. Last night it was ripped off by someone else. At least it is over.

🙁 I am glad that you are not that upset. Pets are such great friends. When I am asked if I have any roommates I always mention my cat 🙂
