Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
"mcloaf, Medical Student" is going to look awesome on my white coat.

Only I know mcloaf's pseudo name 😉 :naughty:

On a side note, I'm coming back to SDN now after my break. I am almost done writing another article (Im still really cool and not a loser guys, I promise). Happy Sunday everyone! It's not nice out, can't wait for some beer and BBQ!

99 in the light. good taste for a light. however, little bit lower on the abv compared to some other lights.

I like the light as well, but I'm willing to take in the extra 29 calories for the full flavor. Most light vs. full-flavor beers are 100 vs. 150, so it's not a bad trade off. Especially considering it is much easier to drink too many lights because they are less filling.

What's everyone up to between now and school starting?

Pre-matric paperwork, shots, training my replacement at work, goodbye get togethers, apartment hunting, packing, moving to a different state 😳

Oh and the beach 😀

Ugh just got back from my first bike ride since vacation.....it was bad. It was 100 degrees, I felt like crap cause of all the ****** food and drink I had on the trip. After puking I decided to come home. Never again lol

I'm still debating whether I want to rent a room in a house with roommates like I've been doing for years (could maybe get a really nice place for $5-600-ish), or get an apartment ($800+, not as nice as a house, but no risk of deadbeat roommates). What are you all doing?

Paying a little more to do an apt, no roommates.

Roommates. But they are both incoming med students as well. And I met with them a few times so I know they are not weirdos.

Living with three other third year med students. lol

I've had terrible luck with deadbeat roommates. I say never again to the craigslist randos, even if they seem perfectly normal. I would consider other med students, though.

Yeah...I am surfing craigslist and trying to find people who seem like they aren't Portlandia extras. My current roommates will go a whole week without doing their dishes & I won't have time or patience for that. At least Seattle seems to have people who are professionals, have careers, know how to take care of their own ADLs, etc.

I'm staying away from the houses where everyone is either a barista, an Etsy 'entrepeneur', or a "student of the world." Yeah, that last one was in an ad I looked at last night.

1300 before any utilities for an older 1 bedroom apartment $$$ I thought Philly was cheap

Where are you looking for one bedroom places that are around $800 rachelkj? The cheapest I have found for a decent place is $950. Most places are running over $1k.

I've seen places around the U district for $850-$900. Whether it is decent is hard to tell over the internet.

Also, when did people start deciding that installing carpet was a good idea? I mean, I grew up in a house with carpet, but after living in houses with hardwoods for a long time carpet seems really weird.

Browsing this from my new galaxy s4. So awesome.

Carpet is awesome for sound muffling in apartments!

Well, that explains it. I am trying to avoid the U District as much as possible.

Yeah. I am mostly looking around Wallingford/Ravenna/Green Lake/Fremont, but those places are mostly houses & not so many apartments. I can't see spending $1000 a month..when you take that out of the living expenses budget there isn't really much left for bills & food.

+1

I don't see how the CoA is that low. They give us like $13k for room/board and I can easily see spending that much just on housing with nothing for food or utilities. It should be higher unless they expect us to commute super far to campus.

I know that feel.

I am preparing to move and decided to check all my textbooks to see if amazon would buy them back. I had tried to sell all the textbooks back previously, but I wanted to make sure they were worthless before I threw them out.

Granted, many of them were from my fiancee who just finished classes, but heck yes!
