Ugh I got in so late last night. Good news is that I got a letter from my school saying that I have sent in all my paperwork and am now officially part of the 2017 class. Thank god. I was paranoid something would happen lol

Hey all, I remember a few people posting about this earlier in this thread but could not find the posts. It regarded overdraft fees and how someone got charged the largest amount first and then the lowest one resulting in multiple charges. I got this in the email earlier (and some money in my bank!)... Very interesting...

"The purpose of this website is to inform you about a proposed Settlement of this class action lawsuit and about all of your options before the Court decides whether to give Final Approval to the Settlement. This website explains the lawsuit, the Settlement, your legal rights, what benefits are available, who may be eligible for those benefits, and how to get them.

A $62 million Settlement has been reached in class action lawsuits claiming that TD Bank, N.A., TD Banknorth, National Association and Banknorth, National Association (collectively, "TD Bank") improperly posted Debit Card Transactions from highest to lowest dollar amount to increase the number of Overdraft Fees charged to Account holders. TD Bank maintains there was nothing wrong with the posting process used. The Court has not decided which side is right.

The complaint in the lawsuit is posted on this website and contains all of the allegations and claims asserted against TD Bank. TD Bank denies the claims in the lawsuit and maintains there was nothing wrong about the posting order used.

You are a member of the Settlement Class if you had a TD Bank consumer Checking Account accessible with a TD Bank Debit Card, at any time between December 1, 2003 and August 15, 2010 and were charged one or more Overdraft Fees as a result of TD Bank’s practice of posting Debit Card Transactions from highest to lowest dollar amount.

Payments or Account credits will be automatically made to Settlement Class Members who do not opt-out of the Settlement. Details on the formulas for determining payment amounts, Account credits, and other Settlement benefits are included in the Long Form Notice and the Settlement Agreement, both available on this website.

If you would like further information about the claims asserted in this case, you can review a copy of the Settlement Agreement here."

Neat stuff haha! Those lawyers must have been good to beat the big banks!

... TLDR

Person on SDN complained about banks over drafting policies.

My bank settled a class action lawsuit because of similar policies.

My bank sent me money (a share from the 60+ million)

Short enough for you?

Got a giant scholarship, drank, woke up with no hangover, made myself biscuits & gravy. So far I win at this weekend.

Congrats on all parts!

I wish I didn't have a hangover. I felt like crap when I first woke up. I decided I was tired of having an upset stomach and puked after getting out of the shower. Now I feel pretty good.

Omg did you win the scholarship!? Congrats! I don't want to say which one I am thinking of but this is the one we talked about right!? Extra double congrats!

It is the one we talked about! I have actually been told not to make public announcements until their press release goes out next week. I think I need to anonymize my SDN username now since this scholarship is going to result in me having a bigger public profile than I'm used to having. :scared:

👍😀👍

In other news, you know you spend too much time on SDN when you open SDN in your browser, get a text, check the message on your phone, and then start browsing SDN mobile for 5 minutes before you realize you have the same subforum already open on your browser directly in front of you.

Nice!

I get alerts on my phone to all my subbed threads. I get some kind of alert every couple minutes lol when I wake up in the morning I've got to sort through all of them haha

Omg you are my hero. Someday visit Chicago, when you aren't too busy being famous.

Awesome 😀 See everyone? Lawyers occasionally do good things. Now I just need this to happen with my bank!

Lol I wouldn't say lawyers are good. I made like 15$. They made a couple million probably lol.

The struggle of deciding to only have two beers because you don't want to get wasty in front of your friend's entire family. Going for a run to burn off all that yummy food now!

That struggle sounds legitimate.

Holy Crap!!!!

are you Julia Roberts?

Omg you are my hero. Someday visit Chicago, when you aren't too busy being in medical school.

ftfy.

But Chicago was fun when I was there for my Pritzker interview! I'll let you know if I'm ever going to a conference there or something.

I don't feel like I really have extra money to throw at SDN, but I do feel like it's worth it to make it so my username isn't my real name anymore. That was a goofy move. I thought I was only going to make a few posts.

I used my real name. I get in lots of scuffles on the road

My school sent out an email asking if anyone wanted to use a nickname on their white coats. I wonder how much flexibility they give...

If you give yourself the nickname Ryu, will you be able to back that up?

Just got more documents from the school to get done.....

The struggle is real. Seriously though, I didnt realize matriculating would require so much paperwork. Oh well its worth it lol
