Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Finally got the anatomy lab pre-handout on what we should do before the first lab.

Guess what, I already know all of it. Boom! I am starting to feel a lot better about the lab portion of anatomy.

All of that, huh? Are we supposed to know all of the spinal nerve rami, roots, & branches and which spinal nerves innervate all of the dermatomes? And the cranial nerves? Before the first class? FML

One class is over! About to go out with classmates to get heavily intoxicated! This is what med school is about.

Glad to hear you are doing well! How are things over in Hattiesburg? I came real close to being your classmate, but decided on CUSOM last minute due to my wife needing to be near a large city (Raleigh) for her work.

I don't know. We can ask during orientation, but I think it is better to over study than understudy.

Especially with a quiz on day 1.

Yep, or at least at my school. They acted like the pre-packet was just a way to get ahead, but then they expected you to know it come day 1. So not cool. Lol

Haha... yeah that's kind of harsh.

Although my first exam is on 8 weeks of material. I'm actually kind of terrified. I only have 9 tests to pass before taking step 1 :scared:

Yeah, I'm actually glad I have tests almost every week. It keeps me from slacking or falling behind.

Oh, that's easy. It's ethics, how hard can it be?

Now, the upcoming lectures on the coagulation cascade..(shudders).

It's not as bad as it looks at first. The annoying part is the factors with multiple names. Also realizing that intrinsic verse extrinsic are more of a laboratory distinction than two separate processes.

Yeah, we have weekly quizzes as well. It's sort of a hassle, but I know it's saving me from being totally screwed come exam time.

I love it here... but I did undergrad here too, so it's like home. I've been very impressed with WCUCOM so far. The student have a loud voice here and the administration listens. It's refreshing.

How are things at CUSOM? Are you guys full swing yet?

I love that feeling.

I mean the one class down feeling.

For real! Already have one A in med school! Confidence booster for sure.

Things are going great! Embryo is kicking my ass, but other than that it's good. I have one class down as well (Cell Biology), and it is definitely a good feeling!

Congrats!

Our courses are integrated. We take one exam for four subjects (Doctoring Skills, Physiology, Histology, and Biochemistry). Embryo is integrated with Anatomy (I despise embryo) and OMM is separate (I'm loving it!).

My favorite class so far is Histo... Our professor taught at Harvard for over 15 years, and he knows his stuff! He is a fantastic teacher. I also enjoy OMM and looking forward to HVLA.

What monitor? I've been looking for one to dual-screen it up with.

Samsung C750 Series 27 inch... it's amazing. It's on sale for 300 at Best Buy right now, although you can get other 27 inch displays for around 240-250. The contrast is probably going to be noticeably better with a Samsung though :naughty:

I know... I was pretty surprised

Result: waitlisted and eventually rejected

I wonder if that had anything to do with it. If so, that is a bunch of BS because it shouldn't matter what your views are on that subject.

Haha actually that interview went really well... The other interview was a disaster. I was basically interviewed by someone who kept talking about himself and asked me almost no questions. I'm really glad I ended up where I am now and not at that school.

:hello: Just wanted to let everyone know I'm still alive, or at least trying to stay alive. LoL

Hope everyone is doing well. Good luck studying and cutting!

I have a pretty funny interview situation. I was asked at a school what was the most recent book I had read, and literally the last book I had read was Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand for a class in college (only I didn't clarify that it was for a class). I wasn't thinking about it at the time, but the interviewer probably thought I was a social Darwinist for mentioning that book. He actually told me in the interview that he thought anyone that agreed with Ayn Rand's ideologies would make a terrible physician. I tried to explain to him that I didn't agree with her ideologies, but to no avail. Result = outright rejected. Lol I didn't like the school anyway, so it worked out.

Haha... At least it worked out in the end. Thankfully we don't have to deal with this kind of application process again for several years.

The hogwarts shirts broke their minimum sale point. They are being made!

I sometimes wish that I was back at orientation

Eh, there's way more work now, but at least there isn't so much awkward mingling at inopportune times when you just want to take a nap.

Got put on Zyrtec last week. Today was definitely a haze. I think I'm taking my chances tomorrow. I need to be able to think lol
