Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Not just to play devil's advocate to the people just starting classes, but it ain't so bad. I am surprised how much free time I have despite studying my ass off.

I still have time for SDN.

Yet, I get nervous, I feel like I'm not studying enough. My roommate will literally get home from class (around 3), plop done in front of computer, and not get up until after midnight. I barely study five-six hours on a good day (this weekend I only did about 4 hours each day). I'm bound to perform average, aren't I? :scared:

I probably put in ~3-4 hours on a weekday, and probably another 3-4 hours spread out over each weekend. I'm doing pretty well so far. Everyone has their own rhythm, I suppose.

I do feel that I should be studying harder. I have friends who are putting in crazy hours already. I know for a fact that they tried the same thing in previous years and burnt out by spring.

Honestly, I'm with you. I've been able to lift for at least 1.5 hours (not including travel time to gym + shower/food afterwards) 4 days out of the week and I'm pretty sure I'm studying way more than I should. I think I'll see if this is worth maintaining after the first exam before changing anything though. I've also been able to go out on the weekends (and on some occasions during the week).

I'm not in it to get Honors in pre-clinical - if it happens, I'll be happy but I'll be even happier if I can pass without too much struggle.

Thats me too. Don't worry. You'll be fine. If you start to slip, up your time. Thats all!

The thing is, I know almost all of the stuff we're covering now ( biochem) so I don't feel like I need to put that much time in. Am I just being stupid?

I've barely been studying. All the stuff I thought I didn't learn in undergrad... well apparently I learned it. I've been spending an hour or two a day thumbing through it and looking at the specifics. Did great on the practice tests, so I guess I'm good?

Hello, friend. Please get Snapchat so I can Snapchat you always. kthnxbye

#1) I think this might've been a mistake, coming back to SDN. LoL
#2) I soooo feel like I've not been studying enough.

All of the biochem stuff is familiar and seems easy. Remembering insertions, origins, innervations, and vasculature on the other hand? Not so much...

:hello:

Welcome back, but this may be my goodbye for a while. Today is the first day of orientation and I am starting to worry a little. Our first quiz is a week away (on the first day of school) and I think I need to study. It is a little stressful not knowing exactly what the quiz will entail (or how much of our grade ti is worth), but that just makes me want to study even more.

I have a 4 hour break in the middle of today though to study. I should be able to do everything there though and then relax tonight. :xf:

I know, I shouldn't be complaining. Medical school starts today and thousands of other people would gladly take my spot. Here goes nothing! +pity+

See, we're only doing biochem right now (well some ethics too 😴). So for me, it's not hard and I've had it all before.

I can't wait for anatomy. Took two anatomy classes and TA'ed in undergrad. Plus, I get to dissect this time!

Survived my first exam.

I hope my liver survives the aftermath.

Movies in med school class /=good idea

I think 3/4 of the class jumped ship before it was halfway over.

Words you will regret saying :naughty:

+1

Love the idea, but lab really does blow chunks for me. Formaldehyde has NEVER agreed with me. Imagine someone that desperately wants to dissect but can only contribute in small bursts due to reflexive gagging. 🙁 I hide it well and play it off as the burning we all feel; but it really sucks. :sad panda: It's purely an uncontrollable reaction to the chemical.

I'm at least enjoying the material (until head & neck, lol).

I have gone to zero non-mandatory lectures to date. I have no plans to increase that figure.

Remember those days when this thread used to go through like 4-5 pages in a single day...:laugh::laugh: we had all the free time.

Free time?

I think I'm gaming tonight instead of studying. Whatup

Yup, I only went on the first day to appease my friends.
My gaming nights have been replaced with debilitating alcoholism.

Same. My poor Xbox hasn't left its box since I arrived 🙁

The new splinter cell game came free with my new video card. It's pretty fun.

It's sitting on my hard drive. I have no motivation to play it. It's a very weird change of pace from just a few years ago when I would go through a game every few days.

That feel when you don't go to lecture and the lecturer ends up going 30 minutes past their scheduled time. And the same lecturer has another 2-hour lecture lined up.

I just drew blood from my fellow classmates arm successfully in one try. 😎

Coagulation cascade = everything has a regulator. Gah

I did like our lecturer, though.

Just dropping by to bump this page up. We almost went off the front page. I hope everything is going well for everyone.
