Class of 2017...what is a specialty that you might be interested in pursuing based off of the shadowing you've done...

Well considering i work for a Fire dept.( im on the ambulance unless we get a real fire and then i jump to the engine) and i also work in an ER. Emergency medicine for sure. Shiftwork, decent salary and no call FTW. Not to mention im ADD lol. You?
 
I am in love with any and all things Cardiology. Interventional Cardiology is really intriguing.

I am really interested in Infectious Diseases for a lot of reasons but not sure if thats where I will end up. Probably will end up in IM/Peds/FM though b/c I do not have any interest in surgery.

Watched it! I've even seen it before I'm surprised I had no idea what your avatar was. It's always great to see some classic Will Ferrell and some SNL from when we were youngsters 😀

Such a good question, my specialty of choice changes every few months :laugh:
Most recently I've been into Anesthesia, Ophtho, and Oncology
I feel like I could end up anywhere except for OB/GYN :laugh:

I got pneumonia earlier this year and was actually admitted for about a week. But an interesting thing happened in the ER. They put me on a code STEMI because of my abnormal EKG. All subsequent tests have been fine, but since then ive had a bit of interest in cardiology and EKG's myself. Its definitely very interesting stuff

Such a true statement. It does change and this is all preliminary but what the heck. My top 3 interests are: Interventional Cards, Cardiothoracic Surg, and oddly enough Otolaryngology - gotta love those transseptal approaches to eliminate pituitary prolactinomas woohooo😍

Who wouldn't want to pursue a medical career? Really? The **** is epic.

We were all too busy being winners - studying, dominating classes, accumulating tremendous EC hours.

Now that our time is approaching....we have awoken 😴 not really...still pretty exhausted

i was wondering if any of you lovely people could possibly find a thread of the stats of SDNers and the residency they go into..

Though I loved shadowing in the field of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the on-call hours are insane. I think my interest leans toward EM as of now.👍
