Class of 2017...what is a specialty that you might be interested in pursuing based off of the shadowing you've done...
Well considering i work for a Fire dept.( im on the ambulance unless we get a real fire and then i jump to the engine) and i also work in an ER. Emergency medicine for sure. Shiftwork, decent salary and no call FTW. Not to mention im ADD lol. You?
I am in love with any and all things Cardiology. Interventional Cardiology is really intriguing.
I am really interested in Infectious Diseases for a lot of reasons but not sure if thats where I will end up. Probably will end up in IM/Peds/FM though b/c I do not have any interest in surgery.
Watched it! I've even seen it before I'm surprised I had no idea what your avatar was. It's always great to see some classic Will Ferrell and some SNL from when we were youngsters 😀
Such a good question, my specialty of choice changes every few months
Most recently I've been into Anesthesia, Ophtho, and Oncology
I feel like I could end up anywhere except for OB/GYN
I got pneumonia earlier this year and was actually admitted for about a week. But an interesting thing happened in the ER. They put me on a code STEMI because of my abnormal EKG. All subsequent tests have been fine, but since then ive had a bit of interest in cardiology and EKG's myself. Its definitely very interesting stuff
About time.
Agreed. It took way too long to get this thread started.

Such a true statement. It does change and this is all preliminary but what the heck. My top 3 interests are: Interventional Cards, Cardiothoracic Surg, and oddly enough Otolaryngology - gotta love those transseptal approaches to eliminate pituitary prolactinomas woohooo😍
Who wouldn't want to pursue a medical career? Really? The **** is epic.

In the words of Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore, "I was too busy winning."
We were all too busy being winners - studying, dominating classes, accumulating tremendous EC hours.
Now that our time is approaching....we have awoken 😴 not really...still pretty exhausted

We'll catch up soon enough. We have made good progress.
Man everyone is EM....
Don't be hatin' 😎
why do you think that is?
No idea. Why do you think that is?
You're very mistaken if you think you can catch us. And that's even with this assist from me.

thx for the post
i was wondering if any of you lovely people could possibly find a thread of the stats of SDNers and the residency they go into..
we're all insane?
Hmm maybe. I am definitely insane though and not interested in the EM.
Though I loved shadowing in the field of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the on-call hours are insane. I think my interest leans toward EM as of now.👍
lol how are those hours any better??
and this just proves..lots of people on here want to do EM
Not so many on call-hours, if any at all.
If no one else posts it, I'll try to look into it tomorrow.
time to bump this to 5 pages 👍
