Some of those threads... seriously, I just want to flick them on the nose and tell them to go lay down.

This pre-matriculation course has me feeling like a medical student. I haven't been on SDN in days and have no time to read all those posts I missed. I think it's time to change my status.

On the plus side, I'm really glad my school offers this class. I have already met several professors and we have taken quizzes and will be taking an exam at the end of the week to mimic what real exam questions look like.

So before everyone begins med school.... What was the worst part of the last year? For it was work. I am so happy I do not to have to go back to that job.

The uncertainty of whether or not I would be accepted, and what I would be doing this year had I not gotten in. That all went away after the first acceptance letter!

The last year for me wasn't too bad. Moving my family and selling our house was probably the most difficult part.

The night I got really drunk at a friend's house and threw up in her bathroom. I then tried to walk home in South Philly at around two in the morning but was luckily driven home by my friend's boyfriend.

Being a reapplicant, I knew this was my last real chance for med school.

Loved every minute of my job. For me, I accomplished nothing I wanted to this year. Not to sound like a dick, but I figured I'd get in somewhere MD/DO it's all good. All the stuff I wanted to accomplish outside of academia. Nothing. And frankly that's what's tearing me up the most. I'm having a ton of anxiety about that :lame:

The uncertainty. I like to have control over my situation, so the waiting and waiting first for MCAT scores, then for primary verification, then for secondaries, then interview invites, then acceptances. Ugh - all the waiting and at many points having little control over the outcome of my situation was very stressful.

The University of New Mexico. Loving it so far.

Must chime in....dudeliness was right. Im pulling about 15 hours a day if you include lecture time. Its really not that bad though. You know you have to do it, you do it, the end.
 
This is the salary that the financial aid calculator suggested that I earn immediately after graduating. I actually lol'd when I saw it. And then I cried for about 10 minutes.

Hopefully you'll never have the displeasure of having to travel to California. I know how much you like this place. Although if you do, you'll have plenty of places to stay and plenty of free booze to help you forget where you are 😀

The good news is, you'll figure out how to spend less time studying. At least I've been studying quite a bit less and I still did just about as well on this last test.

Only a week and a half left of anatomy!
 
Today is the last full day in Vegas.

Surprisingly, I have spent much less than I thought I was going to spend. However, the fiancée is shopping and this might change.

Same here. I'm not in a rush to start classes though. I'm pretty sure that "new-med-student" smell will wear off quickly.
 
Popping in to say hello. Hope you're all well. Done with southwestern backpacking/camping odyssey, now time to road trip to school! Hoping to be back on here more when I get there and settled into my apt.
 
Whatever happened to Agent B? I been noticing fewer posts than normal in this thread. 😕
 
So I've got this semi-crazy idea...

A portion of my undergrad loans is from a private lender, and, while I have paid about half of it off already, I still have a portion that is still unpaid and will be deferred through med school. As of now, my rent and living expenses are such that I would have enough money "left over" after about two/three years to pay the loans off if I took out the full COA. Would it be a horrible idea to pay off these loans with federal loans so that I can "buy into" the federal benefits (mainly IBR)?

I started my pre-mat course too and haven't been on SDN in weeks. Already took an exam and I have an exam EVERY MONDAY UNTIL THE END OF TIME.

But of course instead of studying I've decided this is the opportune time to pop in. :hello: from the abyss !

In the middle of orientation week. Can't believe how much fun I've been having! Wonder if it'll last long once anatomy rolls around
