Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Med school is sooooo hard! Lol. I think I'm losing my mind. So many quizzes. So much reading!

At least they frequently give us free lunch to sit through interest meetings or seminars. Ha.

Just saw patients at the free clinic. HPI, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, everything except a physical basically. Fun!

Is it me or does everybody have diabetes/hypertension?

That's awesome! I kind of wish we had some actual patient encounters sooner rather than just these standardized patients.

You guys are making me feel lazy...

Possible free clinics and or mentorship/shadowing in places of needed help?

This weekend will be great. Just passed another test this morning so now I get the weekend to enjoy.

It was a clear black night, a clear white moon, Warren G was on the streets, trying to consume...

Dance, go rush the speaker that booms
I'm killing your brain like a poisonous mushroom
Deadly, when I play a dope melody
Anything less than the best is a felony
Love it or leave it, you better gain way
You better hit bull's eye, The kid don't play
If there was a problem, yo, I'll solve it
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it

Already starting to feel burned out. Only studied about 6 hours today. Exam on Tuesday. I've been going through the lectures faithfully everyday for about 5-7 hours, but every time I make a pass through the materials, there are extra details that I find I haven't memorized. Argh.

Quote of the week from orientation: "Half-ass nothing. Whole-ass everything. You gotta get both cheeks in there."

"Both Cheeks" is now my official mantra for the next four years.

So one of my roommates is a spice buff and there's a pizza place here that makes one with ghost chili and Trinidad scorpion pepper as toppings.. he brought some back for the rest of the apartment.

One bite.. oh. my. god.

My dad likes spicy foods. I bought him a ghost pepper extract. The company making it found that ghost peppers weren't hot enough, so they added crystals of pure capsaicin to it. It is rate a 7 million scoville units.

My dad eats a half drop of it with every few bites. It is the craziest thing I've ever seen.

😱😱😱

FWIW, it didn't seem to hit my roommate too badly - but then 10 minutes later..

he's planning to finish the pizza off tomorrow as his meals. Cray-cray.

I find that ghost peppers tend to hit after 20-30 seconds and only last 10-15 minutes.

That's me. I have a bottle of Blair's 3am extract that I use to season my foods when I cook, a tincture of pure capsaicin that hovers about 3mil scoville units, among many other hot sauces that range from 500,000 to 3E6. I can't get enough of it.

Holy mother of GOD! I know I'll eventually get to that level, but great SCOTT is that HOT!
Whaaa...someone dropped and one last person is being pulled from the waitlist!
Whoah, what school and how far into classes are you?
And by struggles, I obv mean the hangover struggles.
LoL, we discussed this earlier today. I apparently made him puke with a pic of my missing Chimichanga and chips.
Yeah you know at this point the kid just plain quit he didn't decide to go to another school last second.
Not necessarily, s/he could've deferred at the last minute (or left) for a multitude of other reasons (e.g., family illness, personal illness, accident, property damage, et cetera). You just never know...

True...

If that student actually quit (and not deferred), then... :smack::bang::boom::sendoff:

and long forgotten.

<----- starting to get sick on (1) a 3 day weekend and (2) a three day weekend I desperately needed to play catch-up.

The strugs are indeed real....

Sorry to hear that, man. With all this work, I can't imagine getting sick; it's probably why I'm so desperately following any health advice provided by our professors.

I really don't like going to the gym, either. Wish I could get my own treadmill, but it's just too heavy to move.

Thanks. I had to stop studying about an hour ago because I could no longer focus. It's freaking me out. I had planned an intense study regimen that's falling to pieces thanks to what I suspect is the Rhino Virus.

I'm about to head out for some Hot & Sour soup, maybe some lo Mein, and some night and day cold meds.

I wanna kill right now.

Uuugggghhhhh! New career goal: find immediate cure for common cold.

Whoah, what school and how far into classes are you?

This is at the UW and we just finished orientation. Classes start on tuesday with an epic 5-week anatomy binge. Didn't we just talk about this on FB?

ps, did you not catch my name change on here?

Oh, yeah, we had the same thing happen during our orientation. He probably didn't show up to orientation because he probably got accepted elsewhere and didn't tell the school.

Watched 6 hours of college football and spent the night downtown at the baseball game. The struggle is real.

Woah do you do all of anatomy in 5 weeks? :scared: Because we have 10 weeks of solid anatomy here and honestly I could not imagine doing it any faster...I would probably explode.

Our anatomy is spread over 8 months. It hasn't even started yet.

+1. We are half way through and I cant wait for the next 5 weeks to go by. Cadaver lab is getting old lol

Ours is spread over three months--not yet started. I'm somewhat dreading it--bad combo of a glob of detail and dead bodies.

Ours is spread out over 8 months. I hate it this way... I'd prefer to get anatomy over and dive with ASAP.

I'm scared I'll binge and purge anatomy if it's over in 5-10 weeks. Forcing long term recall is a +1.

A lot of it is in 5 weeks, though some stuff gets held until later when we have dedicated courses for musculoskeletal & neuro. I don't think we dissect hands & feet until Winter. It's all a little confusing at this point so I'm just going to work on what's in front of me.
