I'm a man of my word. Like the t-shirt? I wore it just for you, Agent B(!tchslapped). :meanie:

A couple of notes:
  • These aren't serious, 100% capacity solves. I'd try much harder if this weren't for SDN.
  • This isn't my usual recording setup. It'd be too easy to point out who I am if I used what I do for cubing tutorials. This one's pretty crappy, but I don't care.
  • This isn't my usual cube. I used it to maintain anonymity, as my regular cube is easily identifiable. Hence, my movements are a bit less smooth than they could be.
  • As mentioned before, my right is my off hand for OH. I average <20 with my left.
  • The cube used is a stickerless 55mm DaYan ZhanChi.

Agent B - forever alone

Agent B(allsack). 😆

What spurred the matchmaker in you today/tonight?

Lol. I started studying for the MCAT last week...luckily I'm taking it in the spring, unfortunately it'll be while taking physics...😛

Sent from my LG-P509 using SDN Mobile

I request a three-way conference for universal satisfaction.

yeahhh riiight. and give up your identity? I think not.

So does that make me the fourth wheel...? 😕

NEVER.

sucks to suck. but I'm in a similar position. I will start studying today and I will have only taken a semester of physics by the time I take the MCAT in Jan.

d'awwww 😍

i believe in you!!! also, just a heads up, i haven't taken physics 2 either. and my test is in 2.5 weeks (holy ioghaionaioetuawe!). it's been REALLY REALLY REALLY hard to teach myself electricity and magnetism and optics and fluids, and i've yet to break a 10 on PS.... but then again i might just be a dunce and you might have better luck. but seriously use all the resources you can, because that's tricky business. but it can be done, i hope! i'm aiming to get a 10 or an 11 in PS on the actual thing, so we'll see how that works out for me. i'll keep y'all posted, obvs.

Rough. But I believe in you! I've heard that PS is easiest to improve in.

Do you think it helps to have taken AP physics in high school?

Since AgentB can't counter, I'll fight for him and take his place and challenge you.... to a contest of manliness!

My lift numbers are estimated since I've lost a good chunk of my strength because I'm cutting, but they're good estimates of what my strength was before I stopped bulking (I've changed them by a bit to maintain my anonymity)

  • 3x5 425ish lb Deadlift (My favorite lift):

This is what I can pull off in real life, except with a lot cleaner form, and for a lot more reps and sets

  • 3x5 200ish lb Powerclean (I like it because it looks elegant and it builds up my take-off power for the deadlift)

Same as above: My form is much much cleaner and my right foot doesn't shoot out backwards like this guy's

I had heard that too, but it is so not correct for me. I have no idea why people say that. I think someone thought that once, and everyone else just repeated it. It seriously makes no sense to me. Why would it be easier to improve in PS? Maybe if you're good at math.... I am not!

Yes, probably! I really have no idea because my school didn't have AP classes, so I'm not totally sure how they work. When I entered college, I think all I knew about science was that there are these things called atoms that make up stuff, and atoms have particles called electrons and protons :prof: So maybe understandably, the MCAT has been a struggle for me and my lacking-two-pre-reqs-self. But if your AP physics class covered electricity, magnetism, optics, etc, and you feel like you can more or less remember that stuff, you should be in good shape.

I'm probably extremely rusty but hopefully it'll come back eventually. At least, that's what I'm counting on.

You can do it!!! You started today, you said?

No haha I will be. Idk where you are but I'm on the east coast meaning 3am so when I say 'today' I mean in several hours after I go to bed and wake up haha. How is that for confusion?

whoops. i'm on west coast best coast ( 😛 ) so "today" meaning monday just started.

PS really tests how well you know the equations, concepts, etc. It's the "easiest" to improve in because you can really master the stuff, unlike VR (lol) and BS, where it's a lot more critical thinking and subjective interpretation of experiments and whatnot. If it's a struggle for you, then that means you're not as familiar with the material as other people are, and understandably so if you've never ever seen EM material.

WRT AP being a booster, it depends on how you learned physics the first time around. Did you just blindly memorize equations and use them with brute force with exams? Did you forget all of the equations the minute after you took the AP exam? If so, it probably won't help as much as it could if you actually studied it seriously and internalized everything. Only you can ask yourself for the honest answer.

Because yes, if you mastered AP Physics B/C (doesn't matter which) material, MCAT physics is cake. If you went about it as a boring requirement you had to get done and be over with, it won't be as helpful as you think because you'll have forgotten most of it. (Pop quiz: there are at least 2 equations for voltage: can you name them?)

I say this because I did about 4 days of content review, realized it wasn't doing much for me, and stopped. I took sciences really seriously in high school (and ironically put it in the backseat for college), made the semifinals in the Olympiads, 800s on SAT Subject Tests, made sure I knew concepts and wasn't blindly memorizing, etc. So even though I haven't touched physics EM stuff since senior year (didn't even take AP), I could read a question and know what equation it wanted and subsequently pull it out of my ass. That's seriously what it felt like. These were things I hadn't thought about for two full years, but it came back instantly. Afterwards, there were only a few more physics topics I needed more review on, like fluids and electrostatics (lots of equations, easy to confuse them). Chemistry required almost 0 effort, all thanks to USNCO 😍

Just my thoughts on PS and past experience with sciences helping for the MCAT. I'd go as far to say that anyone who has really mastered (high bar) AP Chemsitry and AP Physics material needs minimal studying for PS. Different schools and teachers hold students to different standards for satisfactory completion of AP at their own schools, but mastery is a different thing. I believe mastery is attained when you can answer a question accurately about a topic you haven't touched for ~2 years within 3-4 minutes of moderate thinking and recalling.

I've seen this sentiment reflected in most of my peers at school as well; it's the BS that gets us

hmmmmmmm :scared:

👍

hmmmmmmm :scared:

I'm just saying. Doesn't mean you can't easily catch up, if not surpass (probably the latter), with dedicated hard work and targeted studying. That's how most people do it anyway, and the results are just as good.

Looks like I'm gonna be one of them.

C'mon guys, I get banned for a week and this thread dies?

Disappointed.

I blame your face for not keeping this thread alive.

I blame myself. Without me, there's no reason for anyone to visit this thread.

Hey guys I had originally posted in the 2018 thread, but now that I'm taking a year off I guess I'm one of you now. I assume you guys are mostly juniors/seniors now?

Junior here, but most likely c/o 2020.

I'll be a junior as of next week!! Welcome to 2019 thread 🙂

I blame it on me being lost most of the time in this thread :/.
Anndddddd I am going into my super- senior year....

also GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS i'm DONE WITH THE MCAT. wooooohooooooo!!!!!! hopefully forever. haha. i don't wanna retake it..... i've decided that i'll retake it if i get a 31 or lower. ugh. i don't want that.

also i'm going to start working on my PS soon!! have you guys started working?

Ready for some sad news? Looks like I'll be taking a gap year instead of going straight on through.

Therefore so long, c/o 2019. I will not be with y'all. 🙁
