We were there early October! At this point, I think no news is good news.

CONGRATULATIONS on UVA!!!

I've waited 6 YEARS to be able to post in an SDN "Class of ___!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (x a billion more !!)" and I'm so happy to report that I received an acceptance from Wake Forest yesterday! To say that I'm both relieved and thrilled is an understatement.

Congratulations to everyone else who was accepted to their programs and chin up to everyone who is still waiting on good news (hug). I am by no means a stellar applicant numbers-wise, so it goes to show that numbers aren't everything!!! 🙂

CONGRATULATIONS on your acceptance!! I love their tissue engineering prowess 🙂

@sunflower18 I've decided that if you're not going to Mayo then it's one huge con for me 🙁 But it's not a rejection until you have the letter, and besides, you have so many other outstandingful supertacular fantabulous amazingtastic schools to choose from and still hear back from!!! Enjoy Vermont and know that I'm rooting for Iowa, NYU, and Brown 😉 Congratulations on your Rochester acceptance!!!!

Sorry to hear about getting deferred at Northwestern 🙁 But so so so many congrats on getting three acceptances already!!!

I'm in a similar boat. I got into a third school today, one that I really did love (University of Rochester), but I'm feeling a bit mopey about the fact that Mayo made acceptance calls and left me off their list. But I've been incredibly fortunate to get into three wonderful schools, and the cycle is far from over. With the help of a lovely pep talk from @claduva94, I'm staying positive and getting excited to hear from Brown, visit Vermont, visit UCLA (got my date confirmed today!), visit Cleveland, and hear back from all the other amazing institutions I've already been to.

I hope you are all staying positive and happy! Good luck to @Ace Khalifa on UNC and @claduva94 on Tulane and whoever else is still waiting!!

I have the same feeling about U Chicago that you do about Mayo (@hellanutella - hoping for good city of Chicago related news for both of us in the far future) 🙁 Not a good feeling to be in limbo for a top choice... BUT YOURE GONNA BE A DOCTORRRRRRRR

SO ARE YOU! Congrats on UVA!!!! :highfive: I can give you and hellanutella a personal tour of the city at second look!

YES!!!! WE'RE GOING TO BE PHYSICIANS!!!!!!! So many congrats on UVA -- what a fantastic institution!!! I'm not sure how U Chicago's admissions process works -- did they put you on a post-interview hold, or do you just have to wait forever for a decision? Either way, I'm really sorry 🙁 I get it. I was foolishly hoping that I would have my future school solidified by the holidays, but it looks like I'll more than likely be waiting well into the new year before having a final decision in hand. But so it goes! I'm just grateful for having had the chance to visit and interview at Mayo, and am so so so beyond thankful for the acceptances I've already got and the interviews that are yet to come 🙂

I have no idea how U Chicago works, but I thinkkkk I didn't get a phone call and I didn't get a rejection so I'm on a "continued" status? Idkkk

LOL! I love it!!! When @sunflower18 visited she was texting you a bit since you met at Albany and she gushed about how friendly you are, and now I wanna meet you too! 😀 Too bad we'll be missing our Mayo interview dates by three days! 🙁

That's the spirit!!!

Congratulations @ProbablyAPenguin!!! I was thinking about you, and I am so happy to hear about UVA! I was hoping you'd chime in between your out-of-this-world cycle! 😉

haha thanksss 🙂 🙂 not so out of this world as far as acceptances go quite yet.. most of my schools have late decisions, but hopefully December will bring good news! I've been crazy busy this week (4 interviews and 2 exams in 10 days) but I'll try to check back in more often 🙂

I love you alllllll

Hey guys! I never had the chance to congratulate all of you wonderful people. Honestly, joining this thread when I did was a blessing, seeing so much positivity really helped me keep my hopes up. I was never too confident during this application cycle but yall helped me stay pumped and was blessed with 4 interviews and a DO acceptance so far. I just wanted to thank you all and congratulate you on the fantastic work you've been doing. I haven't heard back from an MD school yet but am hoping for great news! Remember, the cycle isn't over yet and there are many more acceptances waiting for you guys! Much love and respect 🙂😍:claps::clap:

Whoooa congrats Sandmeezy!! I could not be happier for you!! I love good news lol. One acceptance is all it takes but I'm predicting many more for you🙂

I'm really happy you and the rest of our new posters decided to join our thread. Now if we can get @Friendly_female_house and @MSTPhopeful2015 to join our thread it will officially be a party 😛

On a another note, am I the only one who has noticed how bad ass the ladies applying this year are? There will always be bad ass applicants but I feel like every single one is a Super Rock Star this year. I love it but i think we fellas need to step our game up😛

I predict that a few of these ladies will match into neurosurgery! 😉

Thank for all the support you guys! I'd just like to note that this is the happiest, nicest (albeit virtual) group of pre-meds I've ever interacted with haha. (A far cry from whatever evil spawn cut out the ochem answers from the library textbooks to mess up the curve way back in undergrad - seriously). Can't wait to be colleagues with you all one day.

I'm trying to stay positive, but getting placed on hold at my top choice and getting waitlisted at my second choice makes for a somewhat sobering day. I hope you are all having better luck than me!

Congrats to all of the acceptances within the last couple days! To those of you who didn't hear news you had hoped for, keep your head up! There's still loads of time left for things to change, and you'll end up falling in love with the school you end up at. 🙂

P.S. You guys should make a class facebook group! (Maybe @joonage can start it?) We have one, and it's been great to have.

aka there's still plenty of time for more good news!!

You've had an awesome cycle so far!! Not to mention that you have a UCLA interview coming up!😀
Be proud of yourself!!
Enjoy your weekend!!!

Oh noes! You're down but not out! Have they historically had waitlist movement? 🙁 When will you get your next round of admissions decisions?

If it's any consolation I had a really poor interview with a faculty member. It was supposed to be open file, but they spent 80% of the interview time asking me to reiterate my shadowing, clinical, and volunteer experience (with dates and hours, the majority of which I could not remember)... And these parts are ostensibly the weakest points in my app. 🙁 When they asked about my pubs, they were like "first or second author?" (Uh... how about fourth author?). I shouldn't have let it shake my confidence, but it did and the remainder of my interview was painfully lackluster -- which was entirely my own fault. This school is totally one of my top two and has a pretty low acceptance rate. Not to mention my fellow interviewees were absurdly accomplished and really, really awesome people.

I know post-interview overthinking is the worst thing you can do, but I left this one with the distinct impression that my interviewer was very disappointed in my credentials. Woof.

And so it goes. This is a tumultuous process of extreme highs and extreme lows. Guess I'll find out how I fared in December... on the same day as Vandy (eek). Please love me as much as I love you, Hopkins!

Still no answer from UNC or ECU. Also checking physical mailbox too frequently because that's how WVU rolls. And of course, still have a cold. -______-

Awwww @sunflower18 🙁 I'm so sorry, but you have a ton of other schools to look forward to! And besides, I hear Brown strongly favors its undergraduates, so don't be too bummed. A waitlist isn't a rejection, doesn't Brown have mobility in waitlists? @Cyberdyne 101 is absolutely right (as always 😛), I'm sure you will LOVE UCLA 😀 And I hope Iowa loves you back too!!!!!

@hellanutella, you rock. I know JHU is like wayyyy up there, but for you I think it's achievable! I don't think you ought to worry about your "competition"... we all tend to underestimate ourselves. And perhaps because it is JHU, you may be analyzing your interview with particular vigor--I hope the interview doesn't count too much toward the decision or the adcoms take into account your interviewer's "style"--I'm sure taking that into consideration played a part in your UVA acceptance 😉

And who asks about hours??? I get that you want to show long-term commitment, but hours are hardly as relevant as the EXPERIENCES you encountered! Sorry, but that bugs me about some interviewers (I haven't had those kinds yet), and reading about your UVA interview made me (excessively 😛) upset on your behalf!

I wish you and @sunflower18 the very very best of fits and schools this cycle. Stay positive my friends, and bring out those letters of intent 😉 😀 :luck:

You are definitely Hopkins caliber, @hellanutella!! And I've met a few ppl who've had uncomfortable interviews at top schools and were later accepted!!

I feel you on the tumultuous nature of this process. I've had so many ups and downs, often unexpectedly, and it's only mid October! It'll be interesting to see how things play out, now that my longshot fairy tale fantasy version of things hasn't panned out 😛

I'll get ~5 decisions trickling in over the next few weeks, then the rest in December. Got some time. What about you?

Ahhh, so sorry to hear that your interview rattled you 🙁 but don't give up hope! I'm sure it wasn't as bad as you felt it was, though that's little consolation. I'm wishing you all the best! I hope things work out!

The adventures of @claduva94 and sunflower18 in Vermont have concluded! It was beautiful in the Northeast, with gorgeous foliage abound. The Ben & Jerrys factory was fun to visit, and UVM seems like an awesome school. All in all, it was quite an enjoyable and successful visit 🙂 but to be honest, I'm looking forward to getting home and staying there for three whole weeks before my next adventure. Traveling is a blast, but I think a break will be rejuvenating.

I hope you guys all are having great weekends! 🙂

It was great catching up with @womanofscience again in Wisconsin! MCW really does a good job picking genuine, friendly and down to earth people. It was nice and laid back 🙂
I'm glad you liked it! Hopefully you get good news next week 🙂

I can confirm Vermont was great. Absolutely gorgeous. My only concern is whether I would be able to put up with that much cold in any place other than Mayo. 😛 Oh, and have I mentioned before that @sunflower18 is absolutely awesome? It was a blast hanging out with her despite her at times unbelievable modesty.

Also just saw course schedules for next semester. I have two required classes in the same time slot (one of the problems with graduating a year early). So hopefully I can work something out and won't have to defer...

Officially been complete at 95% of my schools for two months.

So far I'm at 2 II/4 R. Which is fine by me.

Lets see what this week brings for us all 🙂
Welp, it brought me a waitlist letter from WVU.....ugh, they do this to like all their OOS candidates post-interview.

Whew finally home sweet home. Have a lot of catching up to do in this thread.

@claduva94 @sunflower18 exciting! So glad you guys could meet up in Burlington. I'm bummed about the Mayo hold (hold the Mayo har har har), but optimistic about the future!

@nOchemallday that thought occurred to me too, but I did not want to run away with speculation. Either way, both were very unique applicants and I'm curious to see where they pop up when their application cycle starts. Moop's top/bottom/buffer claiming shall be missed.

And without further ado, a backlog of interview photos:

Edit: Holy enormous photos, Batman! Must resize.

Here we go:

SF sushi because yes. I'm a huge sucker for nigiri – especially unagi.

View from USCF, with the tips of the Golden Gate just visible through the fog.

The prettiest med school that I ever did see. You a beaut, JHU.

And if I'm lucky enough to be accepted to Vandy, I want to get one of these things for second look. (Funny enough, it started raining that night, so all the party bargers we not all too happy).

Same here @Ace Khalifa WL. Idk how things work, but it sucks coz I drove 8 hours each way just trying to get there 🙁
It's a shame they interview 500-600 people for just 60-70 spots. So many of us spend considerable amount of money traveling. It's really not fair. Wishing you luck, hope you hear some great news this week from the other schools you interviewed at!
