Still hanging on!
I really like your username.Still hanging on!
Rejected from my IS, UF, but...
Interviews at Mizzou, Mississippi, and Purdue
Acceptance from Oklahoma
Haven't heard a thing from UGA or Iowa!
(I'm going to hear something from Mizzou this week, apparently. Praying it is great news because I absolutely fell in love when I went to interview!!)

That man is 100% me in the future+1 to the username praise
One of our profs (a farm animal internist) will often start stories with how he steps out of his truck and says ''I'm here to help you, cow!"
I love your name because thats pretty much my outlook. Im just aiming to help some livestock and horses. Not nessicarily save them because vet med is not about saving. Vet med is about helping..helping an animal be healthy, without suffering, until its final purpose or endThat man is 100% me in the future

only if i can steal it and get all the gloryCan this be a quote submitted to SAVMA/vet gazette? I feel like this attitude is not prevalent enough in vet med.
I worked enough as a LA tech and SA one to know the less pretty side of the profession. I've seen too many folks let a horse founder through its sole, a dog waste away, etc. Most food animals though by me are taken care of well unless its someone with five cows for ag exemption. The reason I got into vetmed was a sheep in FFA that suffered for an hour because we couldn't get a vet out and we were on school property so we couldnt put it down with a gun. Eventually she died seizing in my arms, it wasnt my sheep and later I found out she had lactic acidosis because the girl who had her was lazy and bedded her stall with hay which she ate the whole amount of :/Can this be a quote submitted to SAVMA/vet gazette? They too are important! Without snakes our ecosystems suffer.I’m just trying to help the venomous snakes and wildlife :shrugs:

I prefer my reptiles legless. Sneks equal underrated! That are so misunderstood. Both are mistreated right under everyone’s noses and people don’t even realize it. Wildlife and exotics are my passion. I’ve worked with so many I’ve lost count.
Nah totally ok with mosquito control but snakes help keep things in balance and when folks go out of their way to kill them then its out of whack. As long as you’re okay with me killing mosquitos because they do not belong here and deserve to die. They have 0 purpose except pain and disease.
YaaaayRejected from Kansas, accepted to Oklahoma State, and waiting on Texas(IS) and Purdue. Hurry up end of February! 🙄
Good luck everyone
!
What do you mean?Do you think it would be bad if I dont get in to write down absolutely every bit of work ive done and put that on my application. I feel like I undersold myself especially in the diversity department and I didn't stand out enough.
I didnt add the hours I worked for my family business. I didn't talk about how my transgender status relates to how I deal with clients that much. I didn't add all the clubs, sports, and etc from HS. I didnt add the animal hours from middle school showing sheep. Im trying to find work at the moment so I have a vet letter for next time..if there is one. What do you mean?

Im just hoping iowa read my essays abd UW-Madison did because theres a lot of that in there.Ahhh
Yeah I’d definitely add it next cycle if this one ends up not working out since it shows who you are more.
I definitely would. The only difference between last year (where I only got rejections) and this year (where I got all 3 interviews) was my essays and experiences. After my file review I learned there were experiences I could even split into more than one and others I didn't include that I should add just to show them more about myself.Do you think it would be bad if I dont get in to write down absolutely every bit of work ive done and put that on my application. I am the same!!!😱It’s really hard not to check my email or SDN or Facebook constantly when you are waiting. I mean i do it at least 10 times a day. Staying HOPEFUL!
also OMG you can't, didn't you know mosquitoes are an endangered species??? Have you even SEEN Lilo and Stitch??As long as you’re okay with me killing mosquitos because they do not belong here and deserve to die. They have 0 purpose except pain and disease.

Rejected to 3 schools, waitlisted at my IS, have one interview left and waiting to hear back from Iowa
Also, not refreshing my email all the time, but keep calculating the statistics/possibilities of my chances at each school (so wasting even more time honestly)
Anyone experienced in IS waitlisted? I’m nervous I’ll need to make plans to move cross country, and the second I sign a lease or move, my IS will call me off the waitlist. I don’t know if I should have a date cut off to give up on it if accepted OOS (I’m making a lot of assumptions about acceptances I shouldn’t be making right now - just trying to plan out options A through Z right now)
Thank you for listening to my ted talk
Yeah, I’ve accepted I’ll lose my deposit on a place if I need to. I would just hate to wait until late July or August to find a house OOS and then barely find one to find out my IS pulls me off and I have all the legal loop holes to jump throughI know a girl who was accepted to Tuskegee OOS or no contract (in S.C. it counts as an instate as well as Mississippi and Georgia) and Mississippi called her off the waitlist in July after she paid all the fees to go there and had to make a quick decision and decided to go to Mississippi. Luckily no leases were signed yet but.. she chose the in state option.

Some leases will have a lease termination part in them where you just have to pay x number of months rent to get out of it. Otherwise you can try and get someone else to take the lease over. Either would be cheaper to take the IS spot, when we’re talking minimum of a hundred thousand dollars difference in just tuition alone between IS and OOS.
I glanced through a few of your past posts to get an idea of what schools we're talking about here. So correct me if I'm wrong but your IS is Kansas and the two OOS possibilities left are Iowa and Michigan State?
The cost difference alone would make it worth it, in my opinion, to jump through whatever hoops necessary to attend your IS if you were fortunate enough to get pulled off the waitlist--even if that happened late in the summer and it was a pain to deal with. If it were me, I wouldn't give up on it unless something happened that made it literally impossible for me to change plans.
Then go wherever’s cheapest if you get multiple options. If you get in your IS from the waitlist then weigh the costs of swapping there, potentially after signing stuff for leases. If they truly are all very similar cost of attendance (tuition, fees, housing, travel home during breaks, etc), then it’s a personal decision as to how long you’d keep yourself on the IS waitlist if you got accepted elsewhere, if you even want to wait on the waitlist at all after getting an acceptance elsewhere anc committing.Oh I totally agree. However, I am in the national guard (which Michigan state and Iowa state give IS tuition to national guard members). Michigan state is still more expensive than both IS, but (correct me if I’m wrong) Iowa has a cheaper IS a tuition than Kansas, and cost of living looks comparable to me.
Just a note for you, when I deferred my spot was given to someone on the waitlist. This was a week before orientation. She somehow was able to make everything work on that very short timeline. So...crazy things happen sometimes.Rejected to 3 schools, waitlisted at my IS, have one interview left and waiting to hear back from Iowa

And I’m willing to do it for my IS 🙂 I just have a SO that is coming with me wherever I get in, I just hope he doesn’t quit his job to find out he could have kept his job (or every other situation that hinders him) but that’s part of this fun admissions game, I guess ♀️Just a note for you, when I deferred my spot was given to someone on the waitlist.
