I am in the process of major GPA recovery and am considering taking Physics I in Community college. However, no physics class from CC is transferable to my Uni.

My question is, for me to retake a class does it have to be transferable to my university, or will any intro to physics class be able to replace my physics grade?

*Note: This is for DO schools 👍

Does not have to be transferable to your university to count for the AACOMAS. Only thing that matters is the semester units have to be the same or greater than the class being replaced, and the course descriptions need to be similar as well.

Retaking at a CC isn't the best idea, from what I know.

But no, you don't have to worry about transferring credits. Wherever you take your classes, they will all be entered into AACOMAS, and that's where your GPA will be calculated.

I re-took 2 science courses at a CC, mostly because they were so much less expensive.

The grades factored into my AACOMAS science GPA and I have heard nothing negative from any schools (during interviews) regarding my decision to take them at a CC.

It doesn't matter if they aren't transferable to a specific college, but if the classes are not labelled or meant to be for students intended to transfer, I would avoid the class. It may not be negative to take CC classes, but if the specific class is not considered at the level for any college, they could argue that you didn't take a class that could legitimately prepare you for medical school.

I was also curious about this because my advisor had told me the other day that the credits from a CC will transfer but the grade will not, sounded weird to me.

This is a common practive for transfer between two schools. Schools will look at the course description or even a syllabus to determine whether the courses are "equivalent."

They just simply give you a P (or T at Emory) for the letter grade and give you credit required for graduation or general education requirement.
