Classes at a junior college AFTER degree. Would this look bad?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I took most of my core science classes as community college before my degree. bio, chem, organic, physics.
They let me in, i think as long as you have a degree it wouldn't look that bad. I don't they mind community colleges that much.

that is what I did.. admissions will understand the situation.. don't fret.. just make sure you get A's though.

Yes I graduated last year with a B.S. but took my Anatomy and Physiology pre-requisite courses this year at my local junior college. I got accepted so im pretty sure its not that big of a deal where you take your pre-reqs.

Talking to the admissions officers at various schools, I would concur with the statements from previous posters.

I'm doing the same thing you are doing right now. I graduated from a 4-year university with my B.S., and now I'm taking courses at a community college. I'm just taking pre-reqs for optometry school. It's perfectly fine to do that since the majority of your coursework was completed at a 4-year college/university.

Reviving an old thread. I was a psych major and received my BA at a reputable 4-year university. I did not complete any of the hardcore sciences but do, I believe, have my English, Stats, Psych, Calculus and Bio down.

Would it be alright if I take the rest of the science pre reqs at my CC? I'm planning on Berkeley and SCCO since I've read they are more accepting of CC classes.

My other option is to stay at my 4-year and continue taking classes, but that might result in a lower GPA and more loans

I graduated in May 2012, started applying over the summer, finished up 2 pre-requisite courses in fall 2012 at a community college, and there weren't any gripes about where I got the credits from. Honestly as long as you make your A's your good.

Alright thanks. I was just concerned since some others were saying it'd be good to have at least some science classes taken at a 4-year, and I have taken none here.

let me understand the question you got a degree first and want to go back and take pre reqs after? shouldn't be too big of an issue, that is depending on other factors. if you attempted any of those pre reqs at the university level and did poorly or changed majors because you couldn't handle the work then went back and took these courses at a junior college i would say that is not as good regardless of letter grade received. Doing poorly at a university level and then going down to junior college makes it look like you are less capable of the rigor of an actual optometry program. Im sure some schools won't care but straight from the director of admissions mouth at NOVA that is "not an ideal candidate" there are more factors to consider in your questions ( also taking a class more than once in general looks bad but if its just once course no biggie more than one course=bad)

Yes I have my BA in psych. I have another quarter at my uni actually to take classes, supported by financial aid.

So is it better to take all my pre-reqs at cc and get A's in all of them, or take some at my uni and then the rest at my CC? Im pretty sure my grades here will be lower than at the CC, though

An. A at the cc level doesn't mean as much bc, like you said its much easier and you can guarantee there are going to b applicants with As at the university level its not bad per say but if it were me I'd take some at the university level
