Hello everyone,

I was wondering if on the ADEA AADSAS application, where it says planned/ongoing coursework, the courses put down are mandatory or can they vary a bit?

By that I mean once I put down I`m taking Histology, will dental schools only accept under the condition I take Histology?
At my school some classes are only offered every other semester and I am scared of putting a class down I wont be able to take it.

The only reason you put those classes down is to let them know that you are fulfilling any unmet requirements, and that you are actually taking classes. So no, nobody would care if you aren't actually taking histology.

Some schools may require you to. My buddy got accepted to Louisville and they required him to take all the courses he put under planned coursework, which lead to one heck of a final semester for him lol. O and none of them were pre-reqs.

Final semester? Was this fall semester? Does your friend's school have the students plan out their schedules before the summer? I really doubt that dental schools would expect all of their students to know their schedules that early, and then magically have no issues with enrolling in and finishing every class listed.

If you have a particular school of interest in mind (or even several), ask them if it's a big concern. I'm not going to dig right now, but in my time hanging out here, I've seen this become an issue a few times. Not common, but I think it became an issue when it was science courses for fall (not pre-reqs). Different schools have different conditions of acceptance. There's not a one-size-fits-all answer for this.

Yes it was his final semester this Spring. He is starting there next month. I was surprised as well. I asked him one day why the heck he was taking all these hard science classes if he's already been accepted and he said Louisville required him to complete all planned courses. I don't know about everyone else's case but this was definitely his.

Wow... I didn't even put down spring courses. We don't know what's even available until around november .
