So right now, I am scheduled for fall quarter to be a lab class that is a 4 hour block MWF (6 credit lab class...fun stuff), a morning Biotech class once a week and some dumper class and research.

The lab is really the only dedicated time commitment and, after talking with the prof, it sounds like I should be able to miss up to 3 maybe 4 days over the quarter because the lab is at your own pace. My fall quarter doesn’t start until September 25th and my only final will be on December 10th. Would it be feasible to schedule maybe an interview or two before school starts, maybe 3 or 4 interviews during the quarter, and maybe an interview or two between the end of the quarter and winter break?

This is assuming I am lucky enough to receive many interviews, is that a plausible timeline?

You just gotta go with the flow. I’ve only been able to chose my interview date once, all the other times I was assigned a date, take it or leave it.

Adding that you want to interview as soon as possible in all scenarios, since it’s rolling admissions.

Really, you don’t get to have a say in interview dates? Or at least the week it takes place? I know most schools have policies like “only the third Monday and Wednesday of each month” kind of thing...but they assign a date not a series of dates?

I received quite a few interview invites, and I was able to choose my dates for most of them. Granted, there were a couple where only 1 or 2 dates were showing on the interview calendar. For one of those, I had a conflict and the school was very accommodating in terms of offering me additional dates. However, this was still relatively early in their interview cycle. You will have less choice with dates later in the cycle, and there's really no way to predict when (or if) a school will send you an invite.

I am hoping for early. I am a relatively high stats applicant with good extracurriculars and decent essays who is submitting on June 1. And my secondary essay turnaround time goal is within a week of receipt because apparently my university writing center is still open over the summer and I live on campus. You’re right though, you never know when interviews will be sent out. I’m just hoping for the best like we all are.

What is considered early in the cycle? If an interview takes place before Christmas is that early or is that starting to be the beginning of late?

In my experience, it will be school dependent. For example, I received an invite to a school who's last interview date was April 8. A December interview there would still be early-ish in their cycle. However, there are other schools that finish interviewing in January.

If you're submitting June 1, I think you will be just fine. My guess is the bulk of your interviews will be distributed throughout September-early December. I wasn't complete at most schools until Labor Day, and my last interview was January 7, with the bulk in Oct/Nov.

That gives me hope. I know I won’t want to attend a ton of interviews even if I am lucky enough ti get many. I really can only afford five or six at the max so having three or four spread out over the quarter seems plausible. Even if I get like 10 interview invites that doesn’t mean I have to attend to 10 interviews. And that’s me being extremely optimistic.

Some schools you can choose your interview date, others you can’t. It just depends on the school.

Lame. But hey, beggars can't be choosers as was pointed out above. Either way, I should be fine over the quarter. Do some schools start their interview season as early as August/September?

And do secondaries come out before July 1st or are they almost always after that?

Earliest I’ve seen is the first week in September, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any schools that have dates in August. That’s pretty early though.

I’ve heard there are a couple of schools that will send a secondary when you’re verified, so you could get it it before the transmittal date. But I think that’s like 1-2 schools. Don’t except to get any until after July 1.

I had many interviews while being a full-time student....professors will understand.

No..they actually won't give AF if you tell them you have a MED SCHOOL interview

August is the earliest. Many schools offer invites in august too

I attended 8 interviews and I was able to chose my dates without a problem. I submitted my primary on the late side(end of July) and secondaries around September/October. Most of my interviews took place between October to December. I did a lot of flying but luckily I put it all on my business card.

On your business card? That sounds like cheating the system.

I just got the Chase Sapphire preferred, however so the up front cost is OK due to sweet sweet bonus miles.
