Well I usually take 12 credits per semester and 6 during summer. But I've been reading and some people are even worried about having to miss on 16 credits one semester and think this might affect them in their application/interview.Does it actually matter how fast you finish your pre-reqs?or can you take your sweet time and still be as competitive?.I don't plan going any slower than 12 per but just wondering...

The dental school curriculum is tough and is said to be like taking twenty-X number of hours a semester. Adcoms like to see that you can handle a high course load and do well. I'm not sure that taking fewer hours a semester will HURT you, but I know that it looks good if you do well with a high course load.

don't worry about your course load. as long as you're full time, you're good.

my semesters ranged from 11-14 credits/semester + a couple summer courses and I had no problem getting into a couple schools.

And, yes, the dental school course load was quite the wake up call for me.

jb!🙂

Yeah, that makes perfect sense.Do you recommend that I take up a notch and maybe take more than 12 per?

well scratch that.

Good to know JB 'cause I thought I was ****ed 😀

Oddly enough I made better grades the semesters that I took 16 hours instead of the the semesters I took 12 hours. I was more focused on school and didn't let myself get distracted as much. I hope this tranlates to d school and make even higher grades.😀

But do what you'd like...again, IMO I don't think it will hurt you. My next to last semester I was originally going to take 15 hours, but since that would leave me with only 9 hours my last semester I dropped a course so that I could take it my final semester and be a full time student with 12 hours.

I would say it also depends on the uni someone is attending.
For a bio degree at mine, we have to do some things that I know some other colleges don't recommend.
And it is stated for bio students at my uni that if they dont have atleast 15 credits per semester, they WILL not graduate in four years.... (That doesn't include bio-major-people who go into college not at a chem1/bio1/college algebra level, but at a lower level.)

I know people harp on being "well-rounded" but having to take a theatre class, poetry class, along with 84748574895 other things is in my opinion, somewhat a waste of time.

I wont pass their requirements in four years unless I take summer classes too, and I know I'm not the only one having to do that at my uni.👎
