What do y'all think of Cleveland Clinic? Obviously a pretty solid program academically but I've heard that it can be a malignant place and sounded like they may have been too busy. Wasn't sure after interviewing. Cleveland itself didn't seem that great but maybe the suburbs, where residents seemed to live, are better. Thanx

wasn't sure about ccf. residents were nice, but seemed like they are really busy. not sure if they have really long hours? didn't seem to have enough work space on the wards, but not sure if i got the wrong impression. also seemed like the resident space was in kind of a dark, dingy area. anyone know if the residents are treated well? anyone know if it is malignant? no doubt academically it is very strong but i need more than that. would be interested in other's thoughts...

Unless CC Florida is specified, I always figure they mean the main CC in Ohio.

Thanks adventurous401. Yeah, I was referring to the main program in cleveland. Anyone else have any comments?

The confusion is the "CCF". It was used to mean "Cleveland Clinic Foundation" I assume, but I can see how it could be confused with "Cleveland Clinic Florida".

If the foundation part of the name is used, I'd type it ccff. But, I know I'm weird. 😉

I interviewed at Cleveland Clinic and felt the same way - when interviewing. However, from going to conferences, I have to admit that the Cleveland Clinic residents seem to be some of the happiest residents anywhere. The program is obviously top-notch and strong in almost every department, and I can imagine that their residents are able to do whatever they wish after graduating. Unlike some traditional programs (which put a ton of pressure on their residents to go academic), I believe that the Cleveland Clinic doesn't dissuade their residents from going into private practice.

Admittedly, I wasn't to excited by Cleveland as a city, either. Most of their residents appear to live in the suburbs (to the east of the city) and many are married. I was single when I was graduating medical school, and I felt that Cleveland was a bit small for me. However, it may be the perfect place for a family.
