My sleep has been such crap for the past week or so...
interview in the AM and it’s 144 am and i cannot sleep or stay asleep.

Same...I always catch up on the non interview days. Sad life we live lol

I have three interviews this week. Thankfully I am in my own bed for two of them, so I imagine it’ll be easier for me
 
So I have a couple programs I think I’ll either get an interview or rejection from within the next 1-2 weeks. One being associated with the AI I’m currently on and the preceptor guaranteeing me I’m on the top of the waitlist so if someone cancels I should be invited soon (I take that with a grain of salt of course, I just don’t want to miss it) and another that sent an email to a bunch of people being like “why ya wanna go here and why would you be a good fit? Respond and we’ll review your application”
I’m on nights this week and it makes it difficult to sleep wondering “what if?” Blah

Why did they put you on the waitlist? Shouldn’t the AI at least interview you while you are there? I get them asking that. They don’t want a bunch of people that are just using them as a safety.

Yes they should, that would make sense. However from what I have heard, this is rare across fields and programs that do this should be applauded.

I get not wasting both parties time with “courtesy interviews”, but IMO programs shouldn’t invite you to rotate there if you’re not someone they want to send an invite to.

I wish I could read program’s minds but alas I can’t.
 
I've got a question for you folks. I just interviewed at a program that has multiple tracks available in ERAS. I originally applied for just one track but I like the program a lot and I was wondering if it's too late to apply for the other tracks since I've already interviewed at the program. Would they require another interview; would they even consider the 2nd app?

I think you should ask the program this. You could also ask them if it is possible to transition to the track as a resident. It would show additional interest in the program and I doubt that could hurt you.
 
How does SOAP work? Will we be able to apply to a different specialty or just work on the current applications to fit in to SOAP?

I was wondering the same since I'm sitting with 4 interviews and 2 waitlist.

In SOAP, you get a set number of applications to send to any open program, regardless of specialty. You can reapply to any open programs you applied to earlier, or apply to new programs, or do a mix thereof.
 
Has anyone had a dinner hosted at a residents house?

Yeah I have one coming up and I’ve been considering not going. Simply because i appreciate it more when the location is close/they provide transportation. Also like what will they feed us lol

I did an AI at this one was told they cater in from a nice restaurant with wine. They said they feel more comfortable in an informal setting at someone’s place with nice food than being in a restaurant with a white tablecloth.
 
Anyone ever show up to multiple dinners and interviews with laryngitis? Of all the things to happen the week I have 3 interviews, I started losing my voice yesterday and woke up today with a sore throat and basically no voice. These are two of my top choices; one knows me already and the other does not.

I went to an interview with laryngitis last year, and it wasn’t a big deal - people were pretty understanding.

That’s good to hear- thanks! My AirBNB host felt awful for me. Hopefully I’ll have more of a voice than I do now. I literally can’t get out more than a croak and I’m trying not to talk or whisper at all.
 
I got an H in an IM sub-I with strong faculty comments; previously had HP in other rotations in this specialty (M3 clerkship + MICU). I'm wondering if it's worth updating any programs with this or if it's meaningless/too late at this point. Any thoughts? If so, should I update programs I've already gotten invites at, or programs I haven't yet heard from? I'm not sure if this would move the needle at programs I haven't gotten invites yet but it doesn't sound like it would hurt. Also, should I do it myself or have the course director reach out to programs on my behalf? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Traveling, feeling awkward in a suit, putting on an act that I like this program so much more than any other is just hard to keep doing.

I am starting to hate bs interview questions like what brought you here. On one interview, I literally told them that I’m here to watch some football and basketball games. Hope I didn’t blow that one too much. LOL
 
Dude I've only been on 2 interviews and I'm exhausted, can't imagine being on 10 already. I have 4 in a short time span next month. I'm not looking forward to it

I feel you! I keep telling myself I’m at least having more fun than I would if I was at a rotation lol. But traveling alone to a bunch of places has been tiring and a bit lonely. And it’s hard to stay upbeat and keep coming up with questions all day long.

I really liked my last rotation. It was also an audition so i guess me liking it helps a lot lol.

I suffer from question burn out. So many of my questions are answered during the early presentations.

I moved one of my interviews so i wouldnt have one four days in a row...

Has anyone played around with that Prism app? I just downloaded it, did my “ratings” and my “projected” ROL is pretty spot on with my feelings right now lol

Haha, I'm on interview number 12 so far. 12 more to go (applying to a field where I need to do about 10 prelim interviews as well). It's getting rough.

Yeah. just wish they had a way of creating like fake rank lists that you can move around as well.
