Yeah. And it wasn't like they made it easy. ERAS message with an attachment, which meant no info in the actual email that got forwarded to my phone. Of course, that site barely loads on mobile, so once I found my computer and logged into that site and opened the message and then clicked the attachment... pardon me for being in a time crunch and responding personally instead of reading 2.5 pages of pdf to see the one line where they mentioned using the ERAS scheduler. Dunno how this is going to work on days when I'm actually, you know, busy being a surgical intern.Dude, this process ****ing blows. I am angry for you all.

Maybe it’s different this year but all of mine have been through ERAS scheduler except one through thalamus. It sucks. I’m on a rotation right now and have to be pretty much constantly staring at my phone/watch to make sure I’m not missing somethingWelp, got my only II of the season so far. Emailed back in 3min flat, but apparently was supposed to schedule in the ERAS system (who actually uses the ERAS scheduler?!) so...by the time they emailed me back to correct me, there weren't even any waitlist slots left. 30min, tops.
FML. This season is going to BLOW.
It wasn't this bad last year. Close, but not this bad.
Last year I had maybe 2 use ERAS scheduler out of 16 offers. And no thalamus. Whereas my ED friends were like 95% thalamus. And lord only knows for IM/Gyn/peds, etcMaybe it’s different this year but all of mine have been through ERAS scheduler except one through thalamus
I received a letter of interest (LOI) request this morning. Anybody else have this happen before?

What does that even mean? Haha
I think they’re using it as an additional screen to make sure you actually wanted to apply there and would’ve even in a normal year haha eliminate the people who shotgunned all overWhat does that even mean? Haha

I got one for EM 2 days after applying asking for 250 words about why them. I told them The residents seem friendly and I’ve been to the city and would like to live there. Radio silence since.
Tons of surgical programs are doing this.Yes from university of Maryland. They basically wanted a “why us” paragraph

I have had several FM do this as well!
Any thoughts on adding new programs for those of us applying to programs with early invites (anesthesia, peds, IM, FM)?

Just strategically assigned my fourth letter so programs that passed me over in the first wave over the past week have a chance to remember I exist and a reason to take a second look at my app.
Btw, 2 were after the spreadsheet shows they sent out interviews. I think a lot of programs are giving their home/local MD students first shake (rightfully so).I’ve had three II now. 2 are from the same state as my school. 1 from my away rotation. still early gang.
Yes....UT Austin sent it out to everyone who submitted an app for EMI received a letter of interest (LOI) request this morning. Anybody else have this happen before?
Same. And my wife and I have parents in TXI got one for EM 2 days after applying asking for 250 words about why them. I told them The residents seem friendly and I’ve been to the city and would like to live there. Radio silence since.
Got my first II for EM... but all slots filled within 30 seconds lol. wtf I don't think I could have logged on any faster...
This is complete bullsh** programs send out more invites than slots. There is no excuse for doing this it is blatantly unprofessional.Got my first II for EM...all slots filled within 30 seconds lol. wtf I don't think I could have logged on any faster...

Do they get a notification every time we update our letters or personal statement? If so I probably annoyed the heck out of them then lol

my understanding is they do get notified anytime we assign something new to them. Not positive about modifications To personal info though.
Might have some attending upload a letter that just says "give me my money back" and send it to programs I only put three on who ghost memy understanding is they do get notified anytime we assign something new to them. Not positive about modifications To personal info though.
Any idea what to wear for a pre-interview Q&A with residents the night before an interview? I'm planning on wearing a button down shirt and slacks.
I have no idea but was wondering this myself. Is it going to be a zoom call the night before? So strange, wish I could skip that.

Yea it is. Kind of silly to have a 2 hour zoom call the night before when the interview day is only 3 hours. Hopefully it doesn't last the whole time.

n = 1 but the one I went to there were some applicants dressed up (some sports jackets, some ties) and some were straight chillin in their normal clothes. The residents were in normal clothes/scrubs.
Might be program-dependent; these peeps were really chill.

I had a couple. I ended up getting an interview at one of them. So maybe it helped?? Who knows
Yeah... I am about to jump on my second one of these and it just sucks. It essentially extends the interview to two days. Programs that want to have a resident portion should just put a segment in on interview day in my opinion. Not a whole lot of "social" aspect to zoom.....I have no idea but was wondering this myself. Kansas?I received a letter of interest (LOI) request this morning. Anybody else have this happen before?
Got an interview while scrubbed in, went to schedule less than an hour later and not only were there no more interview spots, but every single waitlist spot was gone...wtf. Why are places over inviting? Especially with people hoarding interviews this year there’s no reason to over invite

Button down shirt, pajama pants.
Was greatly looking forward to the pre-interview dinners as it is a forte for me.... Now I am dreading zoom "not an interview but totally an awkward interview" fake social night stuff. The interview day is going to be weird enough as it is. I don't care how much charisma you have, there is nothing ****ing cool about a zoom lobby where we ask each other dumb **** for 5 minutes to show we can play nice. Ahhhh

and yet I think I'd still rather have this than nothing. Only chance we're gonna have to assess "fit" at all this yearWas greatly looking forward to the pre-interview dinners as it is a forte for me.... Would it be unprofessional to use wired Apple headphones during interview? Are most people using computer speakers?
I dont think it would be unprofessional. Even when you look at the news reporters from their homes they have wired earphones in.Would it be unprofessional to use wired Apple headphones during interview? Are most people using computer speakers?
I am wearing something like this.
and hiding the wire behind me just in case.
I'm gonna try to use no headphones but if its necessary I'm pulling out gaming ones with the mic and everything. A few of the virtual open houses had PDs and other people using them so I think its good to have a backup planIm using legit big headphones. over the ear. I doubt it actually matters.

They should do Among Us rooms with Discord video chats for pre-interview socials. It'll really bring out the @$$holes, and the quiet ones will actually shine for once...and yet I think I'd still rather have this than nothing. Only chance we're gonna have to assess "fit" at all this year

gonna be hard for the muslim crowd. Two drink minimum, to be imbibed on camera, to make sure you really show your colors/ingenuity.
Have they filled all the days in one wave or does it look like there will be more?Just got University of Wisconsin for IM categorical. Good luck everyone. Keep your heads up.
I'm at a two drink chronic state at this pointTwo drink minimum, to be imbibed on camera, to make sure you really show your colors/ingenuity.
Had December and January. No programs are truly filling up on the first wave. Guarantee they only open part of their slots on each day.Have they filled all the days in one wave or does it look like there will be more?
