Hello! I've tried contacting the admissions office for the past few days and left messages as well concerning this situation, but haven't had any luck with a response yet.

For those who applied/are applying to Columbia on quarter system, what is the exact requirement for biochemistry? I know that the website says "1 semester of biochemistry" but not sure whether that means 1 or 2 quarters (i.e. Tufts equates a semester of biochemistry to one quarter, while Loma Linda equates it to two quarters, also not counting lab).

To add on top of that concern, does biochemistry lab count as another quarter if Columbia requires 2? I have taken two quarters of biochem at my school (4 units each, one being the laboratory course).

Thanks in advance!

I was able to successfully call them today, so your guaranteed bet is to call them tomorrow at various times to know for sure.

1 year = 3 quarters, excluding summer, so if they say a semester, just take 2 quarters to be safe
