So, I was doing columbia today, and the have a bizarre question in the Rec section along the lines of:
"So, you gonna tell us who your recommenders are or not?" I am submitting a committee letter, so I'm leaving it up to them to pick and choose my letters. Should i just say no? no! No you bastards, I don't know which letters you're gonna get and while we're at it, when are you gonna join amcas so you can stop your indiscriminate cruelty? It seems like a loaded question.

Also, thus far I have seen no mention of transcripts. Do those requests come after you submit?

These applications, a bit of hard cheese...

I sent the trancripts on my own, and the LORs to the address on the website and they got everything.

You also need to send MCATs in some form....

thanks dk,
are there any penn kids out there? what did you guys put? a yes or a no on whether you were gonna indicate specific recommenders?

hey dunga,

when you preview the pdf file for the application, it says : "check here if you have requested your premed committee" OR "list names of three people familiar with you work." I originally had the names of the people included in my committee packet but took them out. i don't think it really matters either way though. btw, i got an interview request from them recently. hope this helps!

I think the main reason they want you to list the names of recommenders is some people may ask the recommenders to mail letters separately. COlumbia wants to make sure it has received all these separate letters before the review process.

Comittee letter or packet comes in one envelope, so it's not necessary to list separate people in the application.

For ALL non-AMCAS schools, you have to send in the transcript to them directly, and have MCAT office send the scores to them via the THx system.
