rejected. letter postmarked march 2nd, but i live in nyc so it came today. sent an apparently futile LOI and update as well.

congrats to those who got in, good luck to those waitlisted and those still waiting. i have to go hit my head against something really hard now.
 
I didn't get anything today, does that mean rejection??? did they mail out rejections after acceptances??

Mail came today... nothing. I'm in Boston, and I'm pretty anxious now.
 
Thanks everyone. I never thought I'd be in this position two years ago when I applied and got absolutely no interviews. I am so grateful to have been given this chance.

do they call 'waitlist' an 'alternate list'? if they said you are 'highly ranked' alternate list, does that mean you have better chance than other waitlisted ppl? I'm asking this for my friend btw...

Nothing from Columbia, NJ resident. I guess it's over if rejections were sent on the 2nd.

Nothing in MN, must be waitlist or rejection. (USPS says Priority is 2 days from 10032.)
 
All's quiet on the western front (CA). I got a small envelope in the mail today, but it wasn't from Columbia. That particular small envelope should arrive next week. Congratulations to everyone who got in and good luck to everyone else.
 
anybody in connecticut got acceptance, waitlisted or rejection letter today. I didn't receive anything.

I don't think priority mail is guaranteed to be 2-day. Furthermore, I don't think we know if all acceptances were mailed out on Thursday. Let's keep our hopes up!

Nothing in the mail here in orange county.

I used the postal service calculator 🙂 I didn't expect much from Columbia anyway (WEIRD short interview), so no loss.

it's guaranteed to be 2-3 days. i'm assuming 3 is usually for the west coast.
 
said 2 days for NC. my mailbox was left hungry.

Nothing in my mailbox today so I figured that I am toast. But I thought I would ask...any good news in Cali, Oregon, or Washington today from New York City? Good luck everyone and remember, everyone has options.
 
I checked my mailbox at the student center twice today. Nothing. I'm hoping it's a package that takes a while to process. I'm in NYC, btw.

Otherwise, it would've gone home to Texas. Hope mom has good news on Monday.

Two points:

1.) I never received ANYTHING from Columbia. No response to my thank you note and no response to my LOI. I did email Frantz a question once and he responded to it, but otherwise, they were very quiet.

2.) I wonder if they are sending news alphabetically. Are the people who've heard in the first half of the alphabet? I know I am. Maybe that could relieve some of the stress for those still waiting.

some posts earlier by current students claimed acceptances were received as late as march 6th last yr.

Any news in the Boston area? I assumed that crickets = rejection at this point, but I suppose it's possible that not all acceptances went out on Thursday. Cheers to hope!

That's a good point. It's important to keep this in perspective. It would be great to get an acceptance from Columbia, but I think pretty much everyone who interviewed there has probably gotten in somewhere else. But man, that would be nice...
 
Why does everyone want to go to Columbia so badly?
 
no letter today in boston/cambridge. i guess i have to wait for monday? 😕 did anyone in this area get a letter today?
 
Waitlist received in Connecticut. It comes in a regular white business-sized envelope. Withdrawing.

you're scaring me with your theories!! some people have already gotten waitlists/rejections, and some people have already gotten acceptances. i'm sure there are still lots of letters of both types going through the mail system, even in cambridge/boston.
