Committee Letter/LOR Confusion

I'm a little confused by how letters of recommendation work in my situation.

I wasn't pre-med in undergrad. But because I got a science degree, I had to complete all of the pre-req's for medical school as part of my degree. I graduated in 2014, thinking I was going to do research. But now I'll be applying for medical schools in summer of 2016 (being out of school for right over 2 years).

A lot of schools require a letter from your pre-med committee if you have one at your school. My undergrad school did, but I never got a committee letter since I wasn't pre-med.

Do I need to ask for a letter from the committee at Baylor (my undergrad school), even though I graduated a couple years ago? Has anyone else been in this situation?

I think some schools do not have this same requirement of you if you have been out of school for a few years, but you should check with the schools you're applying to.

Schools will accept individual letters in place of a committee letter. Some may prompt you to explain why you chose not to use your school's committee letter system if they have one. I believe your situation would be a reasonable explanation , though one of our local adcoms could probably give you a more definitive answer.

I personally despise the committee letter system. My undergrad wanted to implement one and I fought hard against it (and won).
