You mean the prevailing "wisdom" on pre allo that state schools are just as hard or harder than the top ranked schools is not true? What?
Are you trolling us bro?

Actually I know some students that went to elite liberal arts colleges and took classes at the nearby Ivy because they were easier.
Why do people lump all ivies together like that. Maybe, but I wish I went to a school where the C+ student was someone who barely attended/didn't do any work.

I saw that but OP seems to be doing poorly now and will transfer to CC, which adcoms might think is a cop out. However, if you at my last post I said that if OP manage to get a good SMP GPA and do well in the mcat, he/she will have a shot...
No, I want to do well in my classes, which might sometimes be a B+ as well as take the CC classes I started before entering university. It's not like I'll get credit for them.

Do you know any of the people who are getting A's in those classes?
No one talks about it really. I know one person who is from another country and makes it known to everyone he needs As lol.

Like I said, if you do well in a SMP, you will have a good chance as long as your MCAT score is solid.

That's two years from now, I don't want to think that far yet..

I'm not sure I lumped anything together.
I went to a well known academic pressure cooker that ate very smart people for breakfast and **** out their broken dreams after a light lunch. Though it did facilitate me getting an above average education and motivated me to set the bar very high for my future academic endeavors.
I wouldn't want it any other way.
The best thing that my time there did for me was force me to learn how I study most efficiently, and make me learn early about balance and time management. That's been paying dividends for 20+ years.
You don't have to study harder, just study smarter.

I know... but it will be hard getting into MD with 3.0-3.2 GPA regardless of how solid your MCAT score is... Try to see if you can get better grades from now and on. I have heard that classes are a lot tougher in 'ivies'...

I really want to do well. College has been a very depressing time for me because I usually prided myself on it. But I feel doomed, even if I got straight As, with according my adviser is not an option, I'd still be far from average premed.

I know this is really cliched advice, but you need to study smarter, not harder. Also, it seems to me that too much of your self worth depends on your grades. Find something else you are proud of besides your grades.

Thank you guys for all the help. If I do get high grades from now on, should I also take CC/cheaper (other university) classes elsewhere to boost my GPA? I don't see why not if it is coupled with high grades from my current university?

No, don't take CC classes in an attempt to boost your GPA.

The reason is because adcoms will see your mediocre grades at your university, see your CC classes, and conclude that you are trying to game the system by artificially inflating your GPA. This will not make them think you are a totally honest, upstanding person oozing with integrity and humanity. And since so many of their applicants DO look honest and oozing with integrity and humanity, they will choose those people instead.

I understand! But if I do well from now on, why would they question it? Or should I not take more classes elsewhere until I graduate and determine my GPA needs more repair?
