Hello guys,

I'm signed up for a surgery rotation at Olympia fields and my main residence is about 45minutes out. For those of you who have rotated here, given the schedule, do you think it is feasible to do this as a daily commute or should I look into housing in the area?

Thanks!

hey, i know of 2 ortho residents who live in the chicago and they commuted their entire intern yrs to olympia fields. its doable. it sucks. and on nights they got out late they just slept in the call room.

good luck. jc

I really appreciate the response,

I figure on rotation I won't really be on call, so if residents are able to do it, I guess I sure as hell will be able to do it as an MS-III on rotation.

Thanks again!

it's not too bad (i come from lockport, so i'm not coming from the city), but people that DO come from the city to Oly say it's not bad (traffic's going the opposite way you are!) what rotation do you have there and what month? i'm a 4th year (at the end of today!:hardy: ), i had a couple of rotations there this past year

Heya,

I have a surgery rotation coming up in July, it'll be my first rotation (basically the start of 3rd year). I am kind of nervous starting out with something as demanding as surgery though! :scared:

Nah, it will be fine. I had my surgery rotation with a couple people commuting from Chicago and they said it wasn't too bad because of the reverse commute. If you want to do surgery, you will love the rotation. Even though it is your first rotation out, you will be fine.
