Hey kat, thanks for the post. It's good to see another student happy at COMP. We've seen enough that complained about it. 🙂kat13 said:hey COMP class of 2008-
I am currently a MS1 at COMP (2wks. short of being a second year) and I just wanted to say congrats on your acceptances. I want to reassure you that COMP is a great place to be, I have really enjoyed my year here. I also wanted to say hello to all of the students who will be in the summer anatomy program; I am a TA fro the ISAC program, so I will get to meet you all soon. If you have any questions about the anatomy program or COMP in general I am more than happy to answer any of them (PM me or whatever). Have a great summer, don't worry about doing anything to prepare for school, you will get everythnig you need when you get to class, so have a great time doing nothing! Get excited about what is ahead of you, it is really an amazing experience.

friedcfood said:We sure are!!!! How about JUNE 5th, Saturday? How does that sound? Some people have suggested downtown disney? Any other ideas? It would be great to meet you all before school starts. It would also be great if we can get some currnet westren med students to come. KAT13? melancholy?
here atlast said:ooooooohhhhhhhhhh! I can't make it on June 5th! ( Not to be selfish or anything..) but can we choose any other day?!!! I really like to meet everyone, and will be sad to miss it!!!! how about June 12th? 🙁
Hey Luwi, welcome back again. If you don't know who I am my name used to be Slickness. 😉Luwi25 said:June 12th works for me! I just need to know ahead of time so I can put it down on my calendar! 😉
Adapt said:Hey Luwi, welcome back again. If you don't know who I am my name used to be Slickness. 😉
June 12 is cool. That's actually a day after my last final so I'm all for it.
Well I am still not completely sure on COMP but I'm probably going. I'm already looking for apartments and stuff. How about you?Luwi25 said:Hey slickness! I noticed that you were tryin' to be all sly and SLICK and change your screen name on us and think we wouldn't notice...but I noticed! 😉 How's it going? Are you for sure at COMP this fall? Hope so!
melancholy said:Adapt = Slickness? That's good to know.. always wondered what happened to him/her.
Adapt said:Well I am still not completely sure on COMP but I'm probably going. I'm already looking for apartments and stuff. How about you?
Well you can get on a couple of waitlists for apartments just in case. Also you should have received it already on your western email account. Are you sure you sent in your FAFSA to western?Luwi25 said:But I don't know when to start looking for apartments? Should I start now or in July? Also, I need a roomie cuz that'll be more cost-effective!
AND I haven't even gotten my financial aid award yet! I'm worried. 😕
here atlast said:Thanks~you guys!!!!!! See you all on June 12th then!!!!
Adapt said:Yea I'm a guy. I decided to change my name since I'm going to be a doctor and figure I need a less immature look. 👍
Hey Melancholy, could you tell us which hospitals you've rotated at already and where you plan to rotate? You can pm me if you want. I'm curious.
Thanks for the info Melancholy. Yes I know if I go to COMP I will be happy and work my hardest. 👍melancholy said:Hey "Slickness"- Which hospitals I've rotated through so far? Let's see:
- Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) in Colton, CA
- Doctor's Hospital Medical Center of Montclair (DHMC) in Montclair, CA
- Corona Regional Medical Center in Corona, CA (acutally a private pediatrics preceptor who worked for Riverside Medical Clinic)
- Riverside County Regional Medical Center (RCRMC) in Moreno Valley, CA
- Patton State Hospital in San Bernardino, CA
As far as where I plan to rotate in the future, I will probably do one or two more rotations at ARMC because it is relatively closeby and you get a pretty good county experience there. I'll probably do a few out-of-state rotations either in NorCal or in New England... and then, not sure really. Due to my offset rotation schedule, I have a little more time to plan out my rotations so I haven't quite gotten down most of my 4th year schedule like others.
Glad to hear that you are probably going to end up at COMP (just like Lewi25). One general thought I'd mention is that once you figure out where you are definitely going, be committed to it and try not to have any second thoughts. I know this had plagued a few students in the past for whatever reasons (some who openly stated that COMP was their last choice) and it probably dampened their experiences early on in medical school although I think at this point in time, most have tried to make the most of their med school experience so far. One of the best things to remember no matter what situation we end up being in is that sometimes we never get what we want, but making the best of the situation truly shows character among other admirable traits.
Anyway, sorry to blabber on, but I just wanted to pass on a little bit of advice that I thought might be helpful to some. Probably won't be able to make these weekend dates in June for get-togethers, but I will catch y'all sooner or later.
friedcfood said:For those who cannot make it to the June 12th meeting, i was thinking of throwing a get together in July when I find a house to rent. A chill BBQ to get to know people. Probably in the third or fourth week of July.
kdances said:I think that would be really cool for those of us that won't be getting down to SoCal until later in the summer. 👍

seputro...what're ya doing up in the bay area? interested in hooking up w/ me and kdances that weekend-maybe late sat nite or brunch on sun? i'm in sf and she' s in sac...just pm us.
Seputro said:I'm goign up there to visit my gf. So yea...I'll be on lock down =( *sniff sniff* as my gf always monopolizes all my available time whenever we see each other. Don't do long distance relationships! They suck! Save yourseeeeeelf.....
But let me know what your plans are, I might be able to escape for a bitMaybe we can go clubbing. Woohoo!!!
I'll be up there on May 28 to June 6.
that dr. jack said:and adapt, what's with the circle jerk of negative DO posts that cropped up this weekend? i'm feeling your pain- they seem to be out for your blood, and nobody is saying anything new. it's the standard "wah!! i'm not happy and therefore no one else will be either!". those are the same folks that tell us not to go into medicine, and they'd be unhappy shi*s as lawyers too.
that dr. jack said:thanks everyone for the birthday wishes for me and mr. t. i shall begin rocking the deuce seven come friday, just in time to be in line with the average class age.
and for all of you unable to make it, i'll drink a vodka tonic in your honor (extra lime of course).
did any other ISACers get the registration info? i haven't gotten anything yet.
and adapt said:yeah, saw that post. With every DO I talked to, they were never bashed by MD's. No one even bothers to make the distinction between the two. I think pre-DO/MD's and maybe MD/DO's in training are more obsessed with US vs. Them crap. I don't really care what people say...action speaks louder than words.
