Comparing Examkrackers vs Kaplan vs PR

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From what I've gathered from many sources is that TPR is better if you learn in a class environment, Kaplan is better if you learn independently but need the structure and guidance of a professor. I personally, am choosing kaplan. I don't know anyone who has taken an EK book, but I have their study books already and am almost done. They are good refresher books (EK), but I feel like I need a little bit more, so I am taking a Kaplan course. The reason being, I was a tad rusty on some of my general chem classes.

EK is probably the best review if you know it but in no way can it teach you anything from scratch. Kaplan is good because it helps me relearn concepts, EK strengthens those concepts.

What worked for me was taking the Kaplan course, going through all of the Kaplan material and then using the EK books (textbooks and 1001 Q's) near the end to refresh my memory. I felt that EK's a lot better organized than Kaplan and so it's great for compartmentalizing everything near the end of your studying, but as killinsound said, Kaplan has a lot more material and so it might be advantageous to go through their books first.

Just the textbooks from the class, I think they're called the Review Notes and there are three of them, one from each section of the test. Do you remember + understand everything from EK? If not you might want to do the 1001's first, they're great for helping you remember (doing 20+ questions per individual topic definitely helps!)

well to me there is so much information.. i remember after i read it and I understand it then but when i take my practice test 6-7 days later im like whaaaa??

How do you remember all the stuff from classes at school?

In my opinion -

Princeton Review - If it has been awhile since you have taken the preq classes and need a good content review, as well as a good class structure.

Kaplan - If you know the material to a good extent, but really need the class structure and new strategies.

EK - You know your stuff, you just need a refresher. Also, they have quite a bit of different strategies from the other two, mainly with the verbal.

I have been out of school for a while now, but trying to change career. I've read a lot about mcat and I'm mapping out a strategy for a successful exam.

I noticed that 2009 mcat website lists topcs for all the areas that will be tested and that's where my question comes from.

1. How does course outline on mcat 2009 pair with 2004, 2005, 2006 kaplan text?

2. I have the 2004 kaplan text. Is the content for, for instace a 2008 kaplan publication similar or different from a 2004 publication or edition?

3. I noticed that the kaplan text covers the topics and then followed by questions, is it better for me to read, for instance, a biology text before using the kaplan text or exam crackers or just use the kaplan text or easy crackers?

4. Finally, since I have been out of school for atleast 4 years, which of the mcat prep books, kaplan vs exam crackers teach me better with [EXACTLY] what I need to know for this exam?

Thanks in advance and thanks all of you on this website for providing members and non-members alike with valuable information.

I'm ready to work my heart out. I'm going for atleast a 39Q!
