  1. Pre-Podiatry
I'm planning on sending out my applications for podiatry school by mid- December. I have a 3.9 GPA at the school I'm in now (4.0 science GPA) and a 3.5 GPA from the school I went to for one semester before that (3.8 science GPA). My MCAT score was a 25 and I've shadowed my uncle, who is a podiatrist. Knowing him has allowed me to be exposed to the podiatry field for most of my life and I'm very aware of the commitment and the passion that goes along with the profession.
I have worked at least 20 hours/week while in school, but my volunteer hours are probably only around 50 for my entire college career. Is this going to significantly hurt my chances at acceptance?😕

Your numbers look great. I don't think your volunteer activities will hurt you at all since you've apparently had other responsibilities. Just make sure you have a solid explanation for that in case you're asked. Most schools would like to hear that you are interested in doing volunteer work in the future. Both schools I've interviewed in touch on community service topics during interviews and on-site secondary essays.

Let me start out by saying f#*& you!!! Sorry, always wanted to do that. You are a viable candidate for any of the nine Podiatry schools. Your volunteer hours are fine. Good luck

Thank you so much for the advice! I can absolutely explain myself, I was nervous I wouldn't even be given the chance to.

And DropFoot, I take that as one of the best compliments I've heard in a while. Thanks again to both of you!

Your stats are great and you should have no problems whatsoever. Good Luck!

Do any posters of these "what are my chances" threads even look at the ridiculously numerous other threads with the exact same subject?

I swear, this should just become a podiatry subsection to eliminate all of them from this section.

Yes, you'll get interviews, probably everywhere you apply. Just don't sound like an idiot and you'll seal the deal. Your stats are strong enough that only a horrible interview process will give you any problems.

Research the school before you go so you have an idea of the program's strengths. They'll give you an opportunity to ask questions, and it always sounds good to interviewers when you ask school-specific questions.

Relax. Not everybody goes through the application process knowing everything, hence this "pre-podiatry" forum. Also, not everyone is going into this with the exact same stats, background, and concerns.

"What are my chances" threads get buried deep in these forums. If anyone is annoyed by them, they don't have to answer. 🙂

better question would be, do any of them come back to update us on what happened? 😛
