Does anyone know about the Kaiser computer systerm for out patient pharmacy? What do they use?

looking forward to hearing your experience 😕

i'm doing a rotation with Kaiser right now

and I think they have one of the worst systems....it's very outdated
you are very limited in a lot of things

some good points however, most prescriptions are doctor entry order
meaning you basically retype directions and you're done

i'll elaborate more later...on lunch break

It is a Command line interface - like PDX or Dos (not very friendly). It is a relic and should be replaced - but it is not impossible. A couple of months of regular work is all it takes to be comfortable with it -

What kaiser lacks in the main system - they make up for with extra systems - Pharmacist can view pt records and diagnosis - the ability to exten Rx for maintenance meds - the availability of the internet and other resources.

All things told - its not as bad of a headache as you might think it would be.

I believe Target holds the worst system title! Kaiser uses PIMS for outpatient and it isn't that difficult to pick up.

Yes, PIMS isn't pretty to look at, but it gets the job done. It takes a bit of time to learn all the shortcuts. Also it drives me a bit nutty the shorthand they use for entering in sigs (still need to have a cheat sheet nearby). Other than that no complaints.

Amen to that. Target's system is God awful! LOL. Well, at least they are working on a new one.
